Monthly Musings – 11/23/24

Happy Saturday! On the last Thursday of the month Holly and Patty ask 10 fun seasonal questions. I love thinking about my answers and seeing everyone else’s answers, too!

In January, we talked about winter self-care.

In February, we are talked about surviving the winter months.

In March, we talked about spring fashion.

In April, we talked about all things spring.

In May, we talked about getting ready for summer.

In June, we talked about summer travel and traditions.

In July, we talked about summer fashion and fun.

In September, we talked about back to school routines, recipes, and fashion.

In October, we talked about Halloween and fall fun.

This month we are talking about holiday fun.

1. Any holiday parties on tap?

We do have a few holiday party invitations this year. Jeff and I need to have a calendar meeting to see how we can make it all work.

2. Best holiday prep advice?

Make a list, check it twice. Actually, check it a lot, but lists are the way to go for me. I use them all year long, but especially at the holidays.

3. Share a holiday appetizer recipe that is a crowd pleaser.

I love appetizers. In fact, we don’t do Christmas dinner anymore, we just do appetizers. I’ve made the Kings Hawaiian sliders and they are always a hit. I’ve made the super easy cream cheese with cocktail sauce and crab meat on top. The candy cane made with tomatoes and mozzarella cheese is also delicious. You can’t go wrong with appetizers!

4. What holidays do you celebrate in November and December?

We celebrate Thanksgiving and Christmas.

5. Favorite holiday beverage?

I have a few. Peppermint vodka in hot chocolate is delicious! I tend to drink more red wine when it is cold. I especially like a malbec. I like vodka in a cranberry ginger ale. I enjoy champagne with a splash of white cranberry juice and frozen cranberries.

6. What part of holiday prep is a total struggle for you?

TIME!! There is never enough time to do everything I want to do. Really, it’s my J-O-B that gets in the way. However, that J-O-B is the thing that funds the holidays so I’m not getting rid of it. In a perfect world, I could go to 4 holiday things a week. These would be light displays, parties, happy hours, festive dinners, etc. But there just isn’t enough time for all of that.

7. Go-to holiday outfit?

I love to add a little sparkle for a holiday outfit. I also love plaid pants or a top to add a little holiday joy.

8. Do you send out holiday cards?

I do, but I am not sure that we are going to send out as many this year. We just got the pictures back from my sister’s wedding and I have some fantastic choices for our card!

9. Black Friday shopper? Yes or heck no?

I am an online Black Friday shopper. I do not like to go into the stores on Black Friday. I love to stay in my pajamas and decorate the house for Christmas.

10. Do you listen to holiday music before or after Thanksgiving?

I already started listening to Christmas music this year. I have been listening to instrumental Christmas music for a calm addition to my day. I am loving it. I will start listening to Christmas music with words soon though.

This was a doozy of a week, so I am a little late joining in, but I am happy to think about holiday fun. Have a great day full of sunshine and books!
