Monthly Musings – 7/25/24

Happy Thursday! It’s the last Thursday of the month so I am linking up with Holly and Patty to answer 10 fun seasonal questions. I love thinking about my answers and seeing everyone else’s answers, too! Before I get started with the questions, I cannot believe this is the last Thursday of July! Summer is going much too quickly! I still have about a month before school starts, but I still have a long list of summering to do.

In January, we talked about winter self-care.

In February, we are talked about surviving the winter months.

In March, we talked about spring fashion.

In April, we talked about all things spring.

In May, we talked about getting ready for summer.

This month we are talking about late (I simply cannot say that one) summer fashion and fun.

1. Summer travel – where have you been and what trips are coming up?

We started our summer off at the U.S. Open golf tournament in Pinehurst, North Carolina with my family. It was so much fun!

Jeff and I went to the beach for an overnight to see Michael Franti in concert. The concert got rained out before Micheal came on stage, but we had a great time anyway.

We went to the beach with Jeff’s family. It was a great beach week with lots of laughs and great weather!

We are going back to the beach at the end of August for a few days.

2. Favorite things you have done this summer?

I love everything summer! Going to the golf tournament was so fun!

Cheering the boys on in summer swim has been so much fun and I am sad to see the season end on Saturday!

I always love the beach!

3. Share your go-to outfits this summer.

I still love my tennis dresses from Old Navy and Lilly!

I love my new skort from CRZ Yoga!

I love my cropped tank tops for exercise!

My bathing suits from Title Nine are my true summer go-to because I wear them almost every single day!

4. Summer accessories you are never without?

Sunglasses – I love Goodrs!

Bracelets – I love little beaded bracelets and big chunky bracelets!

5. Share your go-to shoes this summer.

I typically wear Reef Ginger flip flops to the pool. Sadly, my shoes of this summer have been Brooks sneakers. My “old lady” foot issue has been hurting a lot and sneakers are the only way to not be in a bunch of pain.

6. Share anything spontaneous you did this summer.

I am not sure if this counts. When I saw that Pitbull was coming nearby this summer, I bought tickets for the four of us. We all love Pitbull and the kids were bummed to miss him when he came through town last fall. I didn’t ask them if they wanted to go and grabbed tickets in the presale. It’s going to be so much fun!

I’ve been talking about taking Jack and Luke to Mt. Vernon for years but haven’t done it yet. I might wake up one day in the next week or so and go. We haven’t done any history/museum visits yet this summer.

7. Have you seen any summer movies this year?

I sure haven’t. I don’t usually go to the movies and I surely don’t on a sunny day. We had our first real rainy day of the summer this week and I tackled the guest room closet and the kids’ closets and dressers. It is supposed to rain again today, but I have a few more things to do at home so I don’t think we’ll make it to the movies.

8. Favorite summer sweet treat?

I love a snowball. It’s crushed or shaved ice and a delicious flavor liquid over the ice. We tried a new snowball stand in town this summer and it was pretty tasty. I always get lime or lemon lime. It’s my favorite!

9. Summer slow down or ready for fall?

I answered this one accidentally in the beginning of the post. Slow down summer!!! It has been hot, hot, hot and oh so humid, but I am here for all of the summer!

10. Ready for back to school, if you have kids in school?

No, absolutely not. I am most definitely not ready for back to school. I usually take the boys to pick out school supplies around August 1st, but then we hide them in the guest room closet until the weekend before school.

Those mid summer questions were fun! I am looking forward to a very slow August and soaking up every minute of relaxing, sunshine that I can. Have a great day full of sunshine and books!

I’m hoping for a slow August too but can’t believe we’re nearly done July. I feel like the beginning of July was just here. It sounds like you have been having such a great summer! I’m kind of jealous that your only real rainy day was yesterday. I feel like we’ve had quite a bit of rain or at least the threat of rain a lot.

It’s so funny to read when other peoples’ kids go back to school; we only have 18 more days until ours go back! But I guess Florida is weird like that.

Such fun trips! My daughter has seen Pitbull twice and loved both of the shows. That will be fun and hope you continue to enjoy all things summer as August is here soon. Thanks for hosting!

I am going to have to check out the Old Navy tennis dresses. If you visit Mt Vernon you will be in my neighborhood! It’s a wonderful place at any time if the year. Thanks for joining us .

That’s so fun to be so close to Mt. Vernon! I love living in this part of the country with so much of our nation’s history so close and accessible! I just wish it was a little warmer all year long.
