Happy Wednesday! It’s the last Wednesday of the month so I am sharing what we’ve been up to. Let’s get to it!
WHAT WE’RE EATING THIS WEEK…
Usually I share our menu, but I haven’t been so great at making menus this month. We’ve been enjoying lots of summer fruits and veggies. Our local corn is ready and I’ve been eating a bunch of that sweet corn. We’ve had burgers and hot dogs, crabs, shredded chicken, pizza, bbq, shrimp, fish, and all those good summer foods!
WHAT I’M REMINISCING ABOUT…
This is the time of year I reminisce about beach memories. They are the best and always so fun!

WHAT WE’VE BEEN UP TO…

The kids competed in the Drive, Chip, and Putt competition last week. They did a great job!
We went to Atlanta this month. We were only there for three days but squeezed in a ton of fun! I shared it in two parts – Part 1 & Part 2
We celebrated two 70th birthdays! My mom was the end of June and Jeff’s mom last week. It was fun to celebrate these lovely ladies!
I love our local concert venue, Merriweather Post Pavilion. It’s about 25 minutes away and so easy to get to. I’ve been twice this month! We took the boys to see Jack Johnson for their first concert. It was a fabulous show!
Jimmy Buffett used to play two shows each summer at Merriweather, but stopped coming 19 years ago. Last week, he came back! It was a great show and I was so excited to be back in Margaritaville! It sounds like Jimmy loves what they’ve done to improve Merriweather and will be back again next year.
We took another three day trip this week. I scored an amazing deal on train tickets and we are on day 3 in NYC right now! Jack and Luke have never been so we are doing some tourist attractions and seeing a show!
WHAT I’M DREADING…
When the calendar flips to August next week, it’s my back to work month. I love my job so much, but I also love a summer schedule and spending all this time with my family.
WHAT I’M WORKING ON…
I just finished writing some curriculum for our school media program. I’m also getting started in my new planner for the year. I love setting up a new planner with all the dates and thinking about how much fun we can have in the blank squares.
Lauren posted last week about her summer organization checklist and it reminded me that I made one and haven’t looked at it once this summer. I’ve been working on my list lately. It’s not going very quickly, but I am chipping away at it.
WHAT I’M EXCITED ABOUT…
We are visiting my college roommate Amy and her family! I haven’t been to their house or town before and we are going soon! I love how our kids can pick right up when we get them together. Amy and I have been pretty successful getting them (and us) together at least once a year since Jack was 1.
WHAT I’M WATCHING/READING…
I am still working my way through The Morning Show and Grace and Frankie. I have a season or two of Virgin River to watch and Bridgerton, too!
I’ve been reading a bunch! I shared my July reads yesterday. I’m missing the Show Us Your Books linkup and trying to figure out a good time to share what I’ve been reading each month. I think I’ve settled on the last Tuesday of the month, but I might move it to the first Monday. You can always check out what I’ve been reading on my Books 2022 page.
WHAT I’M LISTENING TO…
I’ve been listening to the sounds of summer – Jimmy Buffett, Jack Johnson, Zac Brown Band, and Wheeland Brothers.
WHAT I’M WEARING…
Lilly, comfy clothes, and bathing suits on repeat!
I read about these shorts online and got a few pairs. They are so comfy and perfect for running around in the summer. I sized down to a small and they fit perfectly.
WHAT I’M DOING THIS WEEKEND…
Jack and Luke are swimming in our league championship meet on Saturday morning. We have the swim team banquet on Saturday night. We’ll probably spend some time at the pool on Sunday.
WHAT I’M LOOKING FORWARD TO NEXT MONTH…
Hitting the road! The boys and I are going to visit one of my college roommates and her family.
We are going to the beach, finally!
My dad is joining my mom, the boys, and me for our annual August trip. We are going somewhere new for the kids and I am excited about it!
Camp Gigi! My mom always takes the kids the week that teachers go back to school. The kids have so much fun and my mom plans new and fun activities every year!
WHAT ELSE IS NEW…
We did something I’ve never done before – bought school supplies in the middle of July! I like to shop on August 1st, but our calendar shows that mid-July was a much better time to get the school supplies. I’ve packed them away in brown paper bags so I can’t see them until late August. 🤣

Oh my goodness those sweet beach flashback pictures are priceless! It looks like you are having a wonderful summer and will hopefully be well rested and ready to start the new school year. Also, I would wear every single one of your outfits!! They’re all so dang cute!
