Friday Favorites – 7/26/24

Happy Friday! Happy Opening Ceremony Day! Happy Olympics! I have a ton of favorites for you so let’s get to it!

Linking up with Erika and Andrea

Favorite 1: OLYMPICS!! Oh baby! It’s the most wonderful time of the (two) year(s)!!! I have enacted a “nothing but Peacock” rule at our house the Olympics are the only thing we are watching. So far we’ve enjoyed men’s soccer, women’s soccer, handball, and rugby. We’re watching live events and previously recorded events that we missed when nothing is live.

I’ve decorated with flags, flames, and signs.

I’ve been wearing my Olympic clothing and using my Olympic phone case.

Favorite 2: BOOKS!! I just finished Michelle Gable’s newest book The Beautiful People and it is so good! It is a fictional account of photographer Slim Aaron’s assistant and her relationship with Lilly and Peter Pulitzer. I absolutley loved it and it encouraged me to reach for something Lilly yesterday instead of my usually gym shorts and a tank top.

Favorite 3: SPINACH! My boys are good eaters, but there is always room for improvement. For dinner last night, I made an egg casserole and put some spinach in without announcing it. They both ate it with no complaints. I am thrilled to find another way to add some easy veggies into their meals.

Favorite 4: SWIMMING AND MEXICAN FOOD!! We are in the last week of summer swim, which is not a favorite because I love summer swim. The league championship meet is always Wednesday of this week. Jack qualified for the first time in a relay this year. His relay dropped time and did a great job!

I swam in this meet quite a few times growing up. We ALWAYS went to Chi-Chi’s afterwards because it was the only location nearby. Sadly, Chi-Chi’s doesn’t exist anymore but I couldn’t let the day pass without visiting a Mexican restaurant. We had a delicious dinner and maragarita after a great day of swimming!

Favorite 5: WATER SLIDES!! A few girlfriends and I rented a 20 foot water slide last weekend and had the best time. This 43 year old took to the slide like I was 13, but the bruises and soreness were worth it! We laughed, raced, woohoo-d, and whooped all afternoon!

Favorite 6: RAINY DAY JOBS! We have had our first real rainy day of the season this week and I got a ton done. I have been piling clothes and other things on our guest room bed that need to be dealt with – donated, consigned, moved from Jack to Luke, etc. – and I started that this week. I was on a roll and decided to put on every single pair of pants in my closet. I ended up getting rid of 10 pairs of pants and getting four out to be hemmed. I am not done editing my wardrobe. I’m sticking with my rule of if I put anything on and it doesn’t feel great, it leaves my closet.

Hello Monday
Monthly Musings

I am a little stressed about balancing pool time and Olympics time. We do have a big battery that I can plug my phone into so I can watch at the pool but it can be tricky to see my phone in the light. My biggest decision for today is do I watch the Opening Ceremony live or do I watch it during prime time. I could also watch it twice to make sure I don’t miss anything. Jack and Luke have their final swim meet of the summer swim season and we have the swim team banquet on Saturday night. I’m looking forward to a pool day on Sunday. Have a great weekend full of sunshine and books!

We’ll watch tonite and I’m looking forward to it. The athletes arriving by boat I think will be beautiful to see. We’ve watched some of the men’s soccer and a little rugby too. Enjoy all your viewing!

I totally forgot the Olympics began! We went to see a movie last night so we wouldn’t have watched anyway. I love that you decorated for it too.

Oh that slide! Sounds like a fun time, but I would have probably been sore too! My sister is having an Olympic party tonight and has games planned for her grandchildren. It has been fun to watch the opening ceremonies so far.
