Hello Monday – 7/29/24

Happy Monday! I’m here with Holly sharing some fun from our weekend. I hope you’ll link up with us for Hello Monday!

What a weekend this was! On Friday, I watched the Opening Ceremony live all afternoon. I loved it! I loved the excitement of the athletes, the views of Paris, the singing, the dancing, the Eiffel Tower, the torch relay, and Celine Dion was an absolute star! I made gold medals for breakfast and some Olympic rings cookies for a treat on Friday. We had an interpretation of salad nicoise for dinner to embrace France.

We were early to bed on Friday night because Saturday morning started early. The boys had their last swim meet of the summer season. It is a division championship meet and it was so much fun! I got to see Jamie and cheer for her kids again.

It was a little chilly in the morning and warmed up to a lovely day. I watched some Olympics on my phone – thank you Peacock – but not much. When we got home, we had a few hours to relax before the swim team banquet. You better believe we parked it on the couch and bounced around between live Olympic events.

The boys and I went to the banquet, but Jeff had to work on Saturday night. I love to see the kids get dressed up and have fun together. We always start with food, then awards, then cake, and the kids end the night swimming until the pool closes. It is such a fun night!

Jack got the AAU award for character, dedication, and leadership. The coach said the most wonderful things about him as a coach, lifeguard, kid, friend, and mentor to the younger swimmers. Way to go buddy!

The coaches always talk about the winner of the award before announcing it. My friend Christine captured these pictures when I realized it was Jack they were talking about and after he got the award.

Sunday was a day at the pool. I didn’t plan it but Luke and I had an all-dayer!

I went a little early for our August member meeting, Jack was guarding, and Jeff and Luke got there right when the pool opened. We watched some Olympic coverage from the pool – thanks again Peacock – and enjoyed the sunshine. Jack and Jeff headed to the golf course around 5 and had a great round.

I have been watching as many sports as I can this weekend. I’m bouncing around to catch Americans, all the swimming, and anything else that’s live. It is just so much fun! Just this morning I was watching shooting and the emotion that the men had when they realized they were Olympic medalists was so moving! So far I’ve watched fencing, swimming, badminton, table tennis, tennis, surfing, diving, field hockey, soccer, rugby, water polo, beach volleyball, skateboarding, equestrian, archery, basketball, volleyball, shooting, judo, and I’ve tried to watch sailing but there have been quite a few delays.

I am planning to enjoy this week with very few time requirements. Summer swim team is over, year round swim ends tomorrow, and soccer hasn’t started quite yet. I see lots of Olympics watching, pool time, and enjoying whatever comes our way this week. I hope you’ll link up with us below if you blogged. Have a great day full of sunshine and books!

I’m in that same boat: most all summer stuff is done and soccer doesn’t begin yet – though they did make sure to remind me my payment is due! LOL. August 1st payment for a season that doesn’t start until the 22nd; I’m baffled!
