Happy Monday! I’m here with Holly sharing some fun from our weekend. I hope you’ll link up with us for Hello Monday! I absolutely cannot believe that we are just about halfway through July! These last two weeks flew by and now I’m a little worried that the rest of summer is going to do the same. I keep reminding myself that I don’t go back until August 26th, but it is feeling a little too close for comfort right now.

We had a great week at the beach and weekend at the pool. Let’s keep talking about fun summer things instead of that school stuff today! We were at the beach last week with Jeff’s family and had a great time. The weather did not look very good and I was a little worried. In fact they said “uncomfortably humid and cloudy with thunderstorms around” for every single day. That is not at all what happened. It was very humid at our beach house, but once you got on the sand there was a cool breeze coming off the ocean and the sun was shining. There were periods of intense fog causing the lifeguards to get out of the stands and walk along the water, but it was a great beach week. We decided to come home Friday morning instead of Friday evening because it was a rainy day with “treacherous beach conditions and rip tides”.

We spent at least 6 hours on the beach each day and I was so happy!

The boys boogie boarded a bunch.

The kids had some great cousin time at the beach and at the beach house.

The adults had some great conversations and laughs, too.
One afternoon, we went to visit a friend at work who babysat the boys, was a swim coach, and was a lifeguard/manager at our pool. It was great to see her and then we stopped at Ropewalk for the original key lime crush and a snack. There was live music and the crush was great. It tasted just like the crushes Jeff makes!

Luke got a skim board for Christmas and wanted to try it out. You aren’t allowed to skim board when the lifeguards are on duty so we headed back to the beach around 5:30. He did a great job! Jack, Jeff, and I hung out and watched him figure it out. We went back the next morning, too.

We played putt putt.

I got to take a long walk on Coastal Highway, which I love!

Jack found a message in a bottle!

When we got home on Friday, the boys went to swim practice and then to our swim team pep rally. Luke was the star of the pep rally when every kid in the pool was chanting “belly flop, belly flop!” while he was on the diving board. With everyone watching, he did not disappoint. Unfortunately, I didn’t have my phone ready to take a picture of his fantastic belly flop!
On Saturday, I dropped our tent off at the pool at 5:30 am and stayed to help set up a little bit. Then I came home to get ready for the day. We were all back at the pool at 7 and stayed for the whole day. Our swim meet ran pretty long and didn’t end until about 2. My parents came to cheer on the boys!

Around 3, I picked up sandwiches at Jersey Mike’s, dropped Jack and Jeff off at home, and brought the hot dogs back to the pool for our evening party. Jeff and Jack were back around 4. Our pool manager has been here for 18 years and she is moving next month. We had a great get together to thank her and wish her luck. It was a great time!

We stayed at the pool until it closed at 9 pm. 14 hours at the pool is officially an all-dayer and it was so much fun!

We were all still asleep when Jeff’s alarm went off at 7:15 on Sunday morning. He was taking Jack to the golf course before work for a bit. Luke and I rinsed off all the beach stuff and got ready for the day. Jack had to work at 11:30 so I took him over to the pool and treaded water for 30 minutes until the pool officially opened.
Some friends joined us at the pool and it was a great day! Jack worked, Luke played with a buddy, and the adults talked, swam, and caught up. I stayed until about 5 before coming home to make dinner and cool off a bit. It was a hot, humid, and fun weekend!
This week doesn’t look any cooler so I think we’ll be spending a lot of time in the pool or at home. Jack has a golf tournament today. The boys have a fun mid-week swim meet. This will be our first week with somewhat of a regular summer schedule and I am looking forward to it. I am planning on sharing some of my favorites for Prime Days tomorrow, so be sure to come back to check in. Have a great day full of sunshine and books!

Message in a bottle – how intriguing!
