Friday Favorites – 11/3/23

Happy Friday! This has flown by and it was a pretty good week! I have some favorites to share with you today, so let’s get to it!

Linking up with Erika and Andrea

Favorite 1: HALLOWEEN!! Jack went trick-or-treating with a friend in our neighborhood and Luke went with a few neighborhood buddies. They both came home with SO MUCH candy and had a blast. I handed out candy for the first time ever and had a blast seeing so many of my students and former students.

I picked up this pastel rainbow wig on Halloween for $3 and had fun with it all night! Jeff gave it whirl, too! Ha!

This Ina meme made me giggle!

Favorite 2: TURKEYS!! On Wednesday afternoon, our house went from Halloween to Thanksgiving in just a few hours. I got all of the Halloween stuff packed up and the Thanksgiving decorations out. I have a few pumpkin decorations and left them out because they are more fall than Halloween.

I almost forgot this guy! He joined the front porch this afternoon!

My Christmas cactus is starting to bloom in my pumpkin basket and I am here for it!

Favorite 3: LIGHT OF CARROLL!! I was nominated for the School Librarian Light of Carroll award. The Light of Carroll Awards recognize the work of individuals, groups, and businesses, in promoting and supporting the power of literacy through acts of extraordinary kindness, courage, selflessness, or education in our community. I didn’t win the award, but it was an incredible morning hearing about so many wonderful things happening in our county. I absolutely love the partnership we have with our library system (the host) and local bookstore (an award winner)!

The school librarians in attendance! What a great group of ladies!

Thanks for coming Mom and Dad!!

Favorite 4: HOT TEA! As much as I do not love the cold weather that is here, I do love drinking a mug of hot tea in the evening. My Swig mugs keep my tea hot for well over an hour even outside! I make it around 7 pm, take Luke to soccer, run, stretch, and then get it from my car around 9 to keep me warm while his practice finishes up. My favorite right now is the Wild Sweet Orange tea from Tazo.

Favorite 5: SNEAKERS! I love November 1st because that means it is time to break out my first pair of seasonal sneakers. I have Thanksgiving, Christmas, winter, St. Patrick’s Day, patriotic holiday sneakers. My feet feel so much better when I wear them to work and the kids love them!

Favorite 6: CSA!! I love heading to the farm for our CSA each week. Yesterday was our last one for the year and I am going to miss the fresh fruits and veggies. I picked up an extra dozen eggs while I was there because they are so delicious!

Favorite 7: BOOKS! I didn’t have as much time to read this week as I’d like but I did spend some time working on my TBR for the rest of the year. I have some holiday books in there and a Summer Beach Read or two. I’m reading a textbook right now for a class I’m taking. I’d prefer to be reading my fun books, but I am learning a good bit about social emotional learning and that’s important!

Currently Reading:
Reign by Katharine McGee – reading hardback from the library
The Good Part by Sophie Cousens – reading on my kindle
The Social-Emotional Learning Playbook – reading for a class
Honestly Elliott by Gillian McDunn – reading at school
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows by J.K. Rowling – listening with Luke

Hello Monday
Currently

I am looking forward to this weekend! Both boys are swimming in their first meet of the season. Jack gets to go on a bus trip with the older swimmers on Saturday for his meet. Luke has a soccer game on Sunday. Jeff is going to a bull roast and I might join him. We are celebrating my father-in-law’s and my niece’s birthday, too. My goal is to get a good To Do list started tonight so I am focused and getting things done while I’m sitting in the stands cheering on the boys and making the most of my time at home. And I just realized we get an extra hour this weekend. Woohoo!

I’ll be back on Monday for Hello Monday and I hope you will, too! Have a great weekend full of sunshine and books!

I just noticed yesterday that all of my Christmas cacti have buds and are starting to bloom! I’m kind of amazed I’ve kept them all alive for so long (I have 3). Congrats on your nomination that is such an honor.
