Hello Monday – 10/30/23

Happy Monday! I’m here with Holly sharing some fun from our weekend. I hope you’ll link up with us for Hello Monday!

We had a great weekend!! On Friday, we started with a homecoming parade and football game for our local high school. The boys had a blast with their friends and Jeff and I did, too! My friend Kourtni always has a parade happy hour because the parade goes right by her street and we can walk to the game afterwards. This year was a little different because the boys are getting older and more independent. Jeff and I hung at Kourtni’s and the boys went to the parade floats, watched the parade, and met us at the game when they were ready. It was pretty great to see them with buds and making great choices. I had the “parent spy network” going and only heard good stuff.

Luke and his swim team buddy!

On a side note, I love living in a town where we know so many people because it’s like one big safety net. I know my friends will help my kids if they need it for anything and they know I would do the same. The village is a good thing!

We had a blank square on Saturday so the boys went to swim practice and I went to my parents’ house for a bit. My mom had her second knee replaced a week ago and she is doing so well. If you are keeping track, this is my parents’ 4th knee replacement (+Jeff’s dad had one)! I am always thinking about ways I can keep my knees in working order because statistics are not on my side. Ha!

I spent the rest of the day avoiding anything inside. It was 80 degrees and so sunny! I read outside, did classwork outside, ate outside, and exercised outside. If I could bottle that weather up, I would! The boys played outside, Jack cut the grass, and Jeff got a bunch of yard work done.

On Saturday night, we watched the JMU – ODU football game on TV. It was a much closer game than we are used to this year, but JMU came out on top! They are 8-0 this year!

Pictures with teenage boys – you take what you can get…

I started my Sunday with a long walk with Jodi! It was so good to see her and the sun greeted us with a lovely sky!

Then I took Luke to his soccer game and he played almost half the game! I was happy to see him back on the field but also a nervous wreck because I didn’t want him to set himself back. He got a little sore and coach pulled him right away. I have been so pleased with how Luke’s coach has treated him and his sore hip flexor.

Jeff and Jack had open house at school. Jack was a tour guide for prospective students and their families. We had a friend there and she spotted Jack! No pictures, but he really enjoyed doing it.

It was supposed to rain all day, but ended up being a pretty nice afternoon. The kids played outside and I worked on my grad class. Procrastination got the best of me again.

We are ready for a fun week with Halloween! I hope you are ready for a good week, too! If you blogged today, don’t forget to link up with Holly and me below. Have a great day full of sunshine and books!

Looks like a great weekend. The parade sounds like fun. I remember that from my days in high school but we don’t do that here. Bigger city I guess. Your weather looks amazing. We are cold and dreary.
