Friday Favorites – 8/20/21

Happy Friday! I’m coming to you a little later this morning because we were out LATE last night, see favorite 4. It was so worth it! This has been a great summer week and I’m sharing my favorites with you.

Linking up with Erika and Andrea

Favorite 1: GOLF!! We got back to the golf course this week. Jack was practicing for Drive, Chip, and Putt and Luke was coaching me. I always have fun at the golf course but I wish I was better! I know the secret to getting better is playing more, but I haven’t made time for it.

Jack competed in the second round of Drive, Chip, and Putt in Virginia on Wednesday. The weather wasn’t great but he had fun!

Favorite 2: BOOKS!! I love picking out books in a bookstore, but I also love mystery books. I cannot turn down a blind date with a book. Earlier this year, I picked up a YA book at my local indie bookstore, A Likely Story. I just got around to unwrapping it and I can’t wait to read it!

When we were in the Outer Banks, Luke and I visited Downtown Books in Manteo. It was a cute bookstore that also had blind dates. I picked up this one and am so excited to read it.

Luke was sitting next to me as I wrote this post and saw all of the covers for the books in the New Books for Kids post. He’s excited about these:

I have the hardest time finding books that he wants to read and I’ve just about given up picking out books for him. He likes to read about sports, but not just any sports book. So in an attempt to keep him reading, I set him loose in the library and let him pick what he wants to read. Thanks to his amazing elementary school librarian 😉, he knows that the 790s are where sports are and that he can find athlete biographies in the biography section. On Monday, he came home with this book.

Favorite 3: JOCKEY’S RIDGE!! While we were in Nags Head last week, we went to Jockey’s Ridge State Park. It is giant sand dunes with gorgeous views of the sound and the ocean. Jeff’s family has pictures of all his cousins from 30 years ago, so we were excited to head back with the next generation of cousins. The kids had so much fun running down the dunes. This checked off one more item on our Summer Fun List – go somewhere we’ve never been!

Favorite 4: CONCERT!! Zac Brown Band has been on my list of bands I want to see for a long time and I saw them last night! I opted for lawn seats because we would have a little more space around us. I danced and sang along and had the best time!! Jeff and I went out to dinner beforehand and it was so nice to spend time with just Jeff. I will definitely go back to a ZBB concert when they come to town!

Favorite 5: JEWELRY!! It has been a little while since I’ve put on any jewelry. Most days at the beach were pjs/exercise clothes/bathing suit/comfy clothes/pjs days. Don’t get me wrong, those are GOOD days! It felt good to put on some fun earrings and go out last night. I had a bunch of inquiries about these earrings! If you want to squeeze as much jewelry fun into the last month of summer, use code SUNSHINEANDBOOKS10! If you’re one of those people that love fall, Cora’s Den has a ton of fun fall jewelry, too!

This or That – Summer

I am excited to see Luke back on the soccer field this weekend! He has his first scrimmage with his new team. We are also hoping to hang out with friends tonight and tomorrow. On Sunday, we are checking off another thing on our Summer Fun List. Be sure to come back next week because I am sharing our sea turtle fun! Have a great weekend full of sunshine and books!

I love picking out books in a bookstore too, usually more than I have time for, so thanks for all the book suggestions! And you had me googling Downtown Books in Manteo – such a cute little store, especially their children section😍

Yay for making it to the concert! I know you had been looking forward to that. Those blind date books look great. I don’t think I realized Luanne Rice wrote young adult novels.
