Happy Monday! I’m starting the week with Holly and all of you! I hope you’ll link up with us for Hello Monday!

I had a most fabulous Summer Sarah weekend! In case you haven’t heard about Summer Sarah, she is my alternate personality. She used to come out all summer long. Now that I coach our summer swim team, she doesn’t fully shine until August. Jeff doesn’t love when Summer Sarah is here all summer because there are sporadic grocery trips, minimal dinner plans, and a very loose schedule that involves a lot of pool time. I think she’s the absolute best and am so happy to be back!!
On Friday, I had some friends join me at the pool. We all worked together at the same school and that is how we became friends. One is now teaching middle school, one is teaching high school, one just retired, and my friend Amy and I are still working in the library together. My guys were working at the pool while we were there so that was fun to see their old teachers. Two of the ladies have daughters going into first grade and it was so fun to watch them swim and play together. We had a lunch of dips and dessert, the perfect kind, and hung out for most of the afternoon. After they left, I stayed and read for a little while before heading home to make dinner for everyone.

I went back to the pool to drop off dinner for the boys and came home to eat with Jeff. Then I headed back to the pool to help with movie night. It was the first movie night we’ve done in a few years and it was great. The kids watched Sing and the grownups chatted. We got home a little after 10. Everyone showered and we watched the Braves game together for a while. I love those moments that everyone ends up in our room, even if I am so ready to go to bed.

On Saturday morning, I was up and moving early. I had an 8:15 appointment to give blood. We are in a big blood shortage and I am O+ so I always try to give when I am eligible. It went super quick and I was so happy to be 2 full points over the iron minimum level. I took Luke over to lap swim at the pool but opted not to swim. Sometimes giving blood makes me feel a little weak and they advised not to get my elbow wet for a few hours. Jeff came over and the three of us hung out at the pool for a bit before a HUGE line of storms came through.

Our resident fox, Foxy Loxy, trotted out during the storm while I was home.

It moved super fast and I went back to the pool about an hour later. I finished one book and started another while I was relaxing poolside and chatting with friends. Jack was working at the pool and I got to see him in action for a bit. I headed home around 4:30. Jeff and I went for a walk when we got home and it was so great! Jeff grilled chiken for dinner and we hung out the rest of the evening. I finished another book and went to bed around 10.
I was up and moving again on Sunday morning. I met my friend Jodi for a walk. We did our regular walk, but I was beat. I definitely need to get back to my walking and weight lifting routine. It has not been my best summer for that! We had a great talk while we walked. I haven’t seen her in a few weeks and I missed her!! I came home and grabbed Luke to take him to work. I hopped in for lap swim and then stayed at the pool for almost 8 hours. What a fabulous day! Jeff joined me for lap swim and then we hung out at the pool together for a few hours. He came home to get some things done and hang with Jack but I stayed until Luke was finished working. I read over half of my book in and out of the pool. We had BLTs for dinner with local tomatoes and lettuce. It was so delicious!! The kids played Bucket Golf with our neighbor after dinner while I wrote this post. I’m pretty sure I’ll have some ice cream tonight, too!

Do you see what I mean? That was a perfect Summer Sarah weekend. Friday’s and Saturday’s dinners came straight from the freezer (no plan) and Sunday’s dinner happened because a friend brought some of their garden overflow to the pool. Perfection!! I loved our weekend – family time, friend time, books, pool, and sunshine! It was just what I was hoping for!

Today is also the second Monday of the month so I am linking up with the Share Our Lives ladies. I haven’t joined them in a few months, but I am today. In August, they are asking us to share our favorite current music. My music tastes don’t change much. Jimmy Buffett will always be my favorite! I shared my love for Jimmy’s music and mentality after he died and I still love all of his songs. Did you hear that they are releasing an album of unreleased Jimmy songs in the fall? Oooo, I am excited!!

I love The Wheeland Brothers! I have been fortunate to hear them play live quite a few times recently and am excited to see them again in September! I wasn’t planning on seeing them in September, but they are touring with Michael Franti!

I love Micheal Franti’s music. He’s touring in Maryland in September and we are going. Jeff and I had tickets to see him two years ago but it got rained out.

I also love Zac Brown Band! I might go see them this weekend! Jeff and I saw them a few years ago and I am pumped they are coming back to town.

I am a little disappointed that I didn’t make it work to see Shakira when she was in town on July 6th. We got home on a red eye flight from Vancouver on the morning of July 6th. It was the right call, but I would love to see Shakira! Her music is so fun!

I think those are my current faves. I love beachy music and Shakira! I can’t wait to see what everyone else is loving. It’s always fun to find new music!
We have another great summer week ahead of us! I do have to go into school on Tuesday morning, but that’s ok. I’m hoping to be finished in time to get a good pool day in. The kids are working at the pool, Jack is playing golf, my mom is coming to teach mah jong at the pool again, and I’m hoping to take advantage of all the sunshine! If you blogged today, be sure to link up with us below! Have a great day full of sunshine and SUMMER BEACH books!

Great weekend! We have a fox in our hood! Yours is big! I see ours quite often and once she/he was sitting on our front porch!
Wow! This was the Quintessential Summer Sarah weekend and looks so so fun! So glad you have had the amount of pool time you have had and to share it with friends makes it that much better- yeah! 🙂
Sounds like a great summer weekend. Easy meals and lots of pool time, book time, friend and family time. Have a nice week!
It is a good weekend when Summer Sarah comes out. hehehe It sounds like a wonderful weekend with plenty of pool time!
I had no idea who Jimmy Buffett was but I do know his music! How cool that they are still releasing his music. I love Shakira too, her music really is fun.
It definitely sounds like Summer Sarah was able to shine this past week! Savor August and all it brings!
That does sound like a wonderful weekend. We had a beautiful double rainbow after a short storm on Saturday that I tried to take a photo of but only one of the rainbows showed up as the other was pretty faint.
Sounds like a nice weekend. We have a fox that is a lot smaller and a couple of coyotes that are in our neighborhood.
