Friday Favorites – 11/8/24

Happy Friday! Well, this has been a week. My work week was all out of whack being off on Tuesday for election day, half day Wednesday for the end of the quarter, and off Thursday for a doctor’s appointment. In addtion to no routine, emotions are running high all around prior to and after election day. Please know that I am sending peaceful thoughts to everyone. I want to acknowledge all of that before I get to my light hearted favorites. ❤️ Now, onto the list…

Linking up with Erika and Andrea

Favorite 1: WALKS!! I went for a walk last Friday evening in shorts and I wasn’t cold! I walked all around the high school campus where Jack and Luke had a swim meet. I walked with a friend on Tuesday morning and we stopped in for her to vote. I walked with a friend on Wednesday at Luke’s soccer practice. I walked on Thursday morning with a friend before a doctor’s appointment. As I write this on Thursday night, I am hoping to get up and walk a little before school on Friday.

Favorite 2: DOCTOR!! I love when I find a doctor that is so smart, researched, and listens to me. The kids and I have had a few doctor’s appointments lately and we switched pediatricians. I am so happy with the doctors we have now.

Favorite 3: COOKING! Luke had a Day of the Dead/Dia de los Muertos project for Spanish this week. He chose to make bread of the dead. It was a great reminder that I need to make more of an effort to cook and bake with Luke. He loves it and is pretty good at it, too. The boy can zest an orange like a pro!

Favorite 4: COLLEGE MAIL!! Ok, so this happened much quicker than I was prepared for it to happen. Jack went to the college fair last month and it seems his address is out there. He got mail from two colleges this week and it caught me by surprise. He was excited about it!

Favorite 5: SKIRTS AND DRESSES! In addition to the fantastic weather outside, the library has been HOT! I’ve been wearing skirts and dresses much later in the year than I thought I would. I am loving it! I know it is usally pants and sweater season, so I am soaking up my skirts and dresses.

Favorite 6: PLOWING! We have this giant field behind us and I always look forward to the day they plow it. Two years ago, I got caught with the windows open and our house was so dusty. Luckily this year, the windows were closed because it was even dustier than last year since we haven’t had any measurable rain in over 35 days. I always take a little video of the plow coming through if we are home. It is such a huge piece of machinery! There were soybeans in the field this year which means it will be a good year for sledding if we get enough snow. I have my fingers crossed that we get one good sledding snow.

Favorite 7: BOOKS! I am reading a Summer Beach Read right now and I love that the weather is cooperating! I have also been to our library 3 times this week to pick up books to preview for school. I love getting my hands and eyes on those new books! I am hoping to finish my summer book and start my first Christmas book of the year this weekend. I’m working on my 2025 Christmas book list, but you can check out my previous lists if you want to get reading now.

Favorite 8: GIGGLES! I found a few things that made me giggle online this week.

Hello Monday

Gratitude Challenge

I am going to keep with my gratitude challenge this week. I love taking a few moments to focus on something good. It sticks with me all day. We have an almost blank calendar square on Saturday! The boys have swim team practice and that is it. I cannot believe it! We are heading to an awards banquet on Sunday afternoon for Jack. I have a long list of things to do this weekend. I’m not sure if they know, but Jack and Luke also have a list of things to do this weekend. I just know they are going to be thrilled. Ha! I’ll be back on Monday for Hello Monday and I hope you’ll be back! Have a great weekend full of sunshine and books!

What a week you have had! No wonder you are feeling all out of whack!
The walks sound great and I am loving that it is still short weather for you.
Well done to Like with the baking!
I have a field behind my house and love seeing them plowing it too! It’s amazing to watch.

What a great week! I am glad that you’re enjoying the weather and sunshine with your warmer weather clothes. We know winter will be here all too soon, and that won’t be an option! I need to get out more and enjoy the nice weather while it’s here and walk around my neighborhood. Thanks for the inspiration, friend! Enjoy that mostly free day tomorrow!

GO VOLS!! I did graduate work at UT, my hubs is from the Knoxville suburbs, and most importantly there is nothing like a football game in Neyland Stadium : ) The whole college selection process is fun-exciting-nerve wracking.
