Hello Monday – 11/4/24

Happy Monday! I’m here with Holly sharing some fun from our weekend. I hope you’ll link up with us for Hello Monday!

I was pretty excited about our weekend plans! Things changed a bit as the weekend went along, but it was still great! Jeff and I were supposed to go to a bull roast on Saturday night, but the boys’ swim meet was taking longer than I expected. I decided that we should skip it when I realized we’d only be there for about 90 minutes of the planned four hours. It was a hard decision for me to make because my first instinct is to say “we can do it all!” but it was the right decision. I love sharing eight great things from our weekend, so here we go.

1-I only attended one session of the swim meet each day! We were at the pool for about 5 hours each day, but that is still much shorter than I am used to. I saw a bunch of swim parent friends and chatted with them for both sessions. I literally did not read one single word in my book and I was ok with that. It was fun to cheer on all the swimmers and watch them cheer each other on, too!

Jack and Luke swam a lot of best times. They’ve been working hard it was great to see it pay off! They are both swimming in about a month and have set some goals. As a former swimmer and swim coach, I am working very hard to be their mom who cheers a lot instead of offering tips and feedback. I am so proud of them and remembering to be their proud mom who cheers loudly.

2-Jack swam in this meet last year but it was a team bus trip. The team provided pizza and subs for the kids on the way home. Jack has been talking about these subs for a week or so. When I decided not to go to the bull roast on Saturday, I told him we could go get the subs for dinner. A few other swimmers and parents joined us. I was a little nervous when we pulled up to the restaurant, but Jack was right and the subs did not disappoint. I ended up going back on Sunday during the meet to get sandwiches for lunch today.

3-We celebrated my niece’s birthday last night. We had the two 13 year olds stand back to back and it’s almost too close to call. It was nice to see everyone even if we were a little late.

4-I have been wearing these outfits to swim meets for years. I bought the leggings and quarterzips together and love that they are an easy outfit pick. They are perfect for swim meets, too. They are comfy, cool, and perfect for layering when it can be cool outside and hot inside. The added bonus for the orange one is that the boys can always find me in the stands.

5-The weather was definitely cooler this weekend but the sun was shining and it was lovely. The fall trees are looking good, too! On Friday, I walked in shorts! Shorts in November, can you even believe it? It was great. On Sunday, I walked for an hour around the Mercersburg Academy campus before the meet started. The campus is beautiful and I had a great walk!

6-When I got home from school on Friday afternoon, I went straight to the deck. It was a busy day at school with a bunch of kids bouncing back from Halloween. I was ready for some quiet and sat in the sunshine for about 20 minutes. I didn’t read. I didn’t look at my phone. I didn’t even listen to music or a podcast. It was a great way to get ready for the weekend.

7-I love a bracelet stack and put most of my friendship bracelets together this weekend. I’ve collected them from local artisans, former students, and Etsy makers. These make me so happy and serve as a great reminder of things I love and what I am trying to do everytime I look down.

8-I love smores and especially smores made with Peeps. I picked up skull Peeps and we celebrated Dia de los Muertos with sugar skull smores this weekend. They were a yummy treat for the four of us. It may not seem like a big deal, but it made me so happy for all four of us to be together in the kitchen. Time with all four of us at home and laughing will always be a great moment.

It was a wonderful and busy weekend. We didn’t spend much time at home, but we had a great time. We are all headed to school today, but this is a wacky week for me. I have conferences tonight, so it’s almost a 12 hour day. We don’t have school on Tuesday for election day, but Luke is going to shadow at Jack’s school so I’ll be home alone all day. We have a half day on Wednesday for students and staff can work from home. I am off Thursday and then I’ll go back to work on Friday. I am pretty sure I will have no idea what day it is all week. Don’t forget to link up with us below if you blogged today! Have a great day full of sunshine and books!

What a wonderful and busy weekend! We went out to breakfast Saturday morning and I was so unsure of the diner we walked into but it turned out to be such a great meal for all 3 of us; sometimes you just don’t know until you give it a try.

I’ve never tried s’mores with peeps but that sounds good. We might do some next weekend so I will have to see if there are peeps around. They seem to make them for every holiday now so I’m thinking there are probably some turkeys out there for November. We were in Minnesota for the weekend and I loved coming home to 70 degrees in SC!
