Happy Wednesday! It’s the first Wednesday of the month and I am linking up with Jennifer to share things I am currently doing. Usually we share five things, but I started writing with the wrong prompts so I added in the extras. Lucky you, you’ll get seven things I am currently doing this month.

Before I get to my Currently, I want to wish my mom and dad a very happy anniversary! 48 years ago, those two lovebirds tied the knot and I am so happy they did! Have a great day celebrating Mom and Dad! I love you!

I am loving…

The Olympics!! I have watched as many live and recorded events as I possible can. I am trying to see at least two competitors in every sport and I have surpassed that in all sports that have competed so far. There are still four more days of Olympic coverage and I am here for it! During the swimming team trials in June, I ordered two Team USA flags and they finally got here. The navy one is outside.

The white one is joining my white Olympic flag in the family room, our official Olympic viewing venue.

I love all the acts of sportsmanship between the athletes this year. Watching the gymnasts cheer for each other has been incredible. They are supporting all of the competitors, not just their teammates. Of course I picked the swimmers, but this Hello Sunshine post on Instagram showed 10 examples of how awesome the sportsmanship has been. And that was before Simone and Jordan bowed to Rebecca on the floor podium. I love it!

The swimming was so fun to watch. There weren’t many world records set, but there were a lot of close races and exciting finishes.

I love watching sports that I know nothing about (hello trampoline) and sports where I know the rules (yes, water polo) and recognize the athletes!

I have had more happy tears, cheers, high fives, and “oh my goodness”es in the past 2 weeks than I usually do. The commentators are killing it! Rowdy is the best with Dan Hicks and Elizabeth Beisel, Snoop is a-maz-ing (have you seen him call badminton?), the gymnastics crew is fantastic, and all of the others are so good at explaining what’s happening and telling us when to get hype!

I am looking forward to…

August! We have a lot of fun things planned this month. We gave Luke a day trip for his birthday and are going next week. I have three concerts this month. We’re going to the beach. There are some good pool days to be had.

I am dreading…

A cold, dark cafeteria on August 26th. After soaking up the sunshine all summer long, the first day back to work a very long faculty meeting in a cold, dark cafeteria is tough to face. Once I get into my routine, it will be great. I love my job! The transition from Summer Sarah to regular Sarah is a toughie, though.

I am eating…

Well, we’ve been eating whatever Summer Sarah can scrounge up in the fridge, freezer, and pantry for most of the summer. I was getting a little tired of made up meals, so I made a real deal meal plan for this week with most of my lunches and dinners planned out.

**I made this meal plan before I looked at the weather. Some things are changing, but it’s still good to have an idea of what we are eating.**

I am buying…

Back to school stuff! I needed a new backpack for school and found one that I love. It will be here tomorrow. I bought school supplies, but they are hidden away in the guest room closet so they don’t ruin our summer vibes. I need to buy a few books for Jack. I will be buying some new uniform pants, shorts, and a sweater for Jack. I need to buy new school shoes for Jack and Luke.

I am NOT buying new school clothes or shoes for myself. Over the past few weeks, I have been going through my clothes and shoes (and other areas) clearing out the things I don’t wear. Guess what, there is plenty in my wardrobe to wear so I am resisting buying anything new. I am also NOT buying any pens, pencils, or paper products for myself. I have a great supply and there is no need to add to it.

I am scheduling…

Everything that needs to be done before I go back to work. There are the normal things – hair cuts, dentist and orthodontist appointments, oil changes – and the fun things I want to make sure we do – out to breakfast, out to dinner, family pickleball, time with girlfriends.

I am also scheduling my workouts for the rest of the month. I set some goals for the summer and I need to lock in on my strength goals.

I am gearing up for…

A few days of rain in the forecast. Usually when we leave the pool, I say “See you tomorrow!” but today as we all left it was “We’ll see you when we see you. Definitely Sunday!” We have two rainy days forecasted and then Debby is coming our way to drop some more rain. I don’t love rainy days, but I do have a list of things I’ve been saving for rainy days. Mostly, we are going to do some work in our basement. It is unfinished but we have furnished it like it is finished. I’d like to go through and clean some things out, give it a good vacuuming and dusting, and try to make the best use of our storage spaces. I also want to finish a nonfiction book I’ve been reading. And, I am thinking about calling to school to see when I can come in and start my extra summer days. Yikes! It feels awfully early, but I’d rather do a few hours when the sun isn’t shining. We might even go to the movies. That would be quite unusual!

What are you currently doing? Are you looking forward to something fun this month? What’s on your meal plan? I am ready for some new, healthy, easy ideas! Have a great day full of sunshine and books!

It’s so great that you mentioned the wonderful sportsmanship in this Olympics-we noticed that and were just commenting on it this week- it is amazing to watch! You have plenty of fun left this summer- yeah! I cannot wait to see New Kids on the Block at my fave concert venue on Friday night with some besties- it is outdoors! Also looking forward to an overnight in Boston with Rob to celebrate our 20 year anniversary and celebrating Diana’s Sweet 16 🙂

I’m trying to come up with some rainy day activities too since we have so many rainy and cool days in a row this week. I’d love for a little weather clearing so we can squeeze in a hike!

My boys actually took trampoline classes and their coach told us Alec had what it took to be competitive in the sport… but it was nearly an hour drive to the new gym they were moving to to train so we let it pass us by. What a totally different lifestyle that would have been and I often wonder if his height would have made it harder as he got older (he was always tall and lanky but he wasn’t abnormally tall in 2nd & 3rd grade).

I love your “I’m loving” section. The Olympics have been amazing. I’ve shed a few tears too. Love your Olympic flags and decorations. I hope you have many more pool days, but I know I use dreary days to be productive at home. That’s what happened to me last week.

Is your high on Thursday really going to be 75?!? That would be so strange in August, but most likely welcome, right? I love the sunshine and I love being productive – looks like you’ll have all that plus some great entertainment with the Olympics – win-win-win!

I totally hear you on the transition between “summer Natasha” and “regular Natasha.” My transition has to happen next week and “summer Natasha” is NOT happy about it. And I love the occasional rainy day to get things done in the house.
