Happy Tuesday! I am linking up with Joanne for Talking about it Tuesday. One of my favorite kinds of posts to read is a day in the life post. I planned to document a day during swim team season, but I kept forgetting. Summer Sarah strikes again! I did remember last week and documented Tuesday, August 6th. Here’s a summer day in the life.

I took a quick screenshot as soon as I woke up. I usually wake up in the 5s on my own.

I stayed in bed and read until my alarm went off. My alarm goes off at 6:45 every day in the summer. I don’t always do anything about it, but it is a suggestion to get moving.

This morning, I turned on the TV and started watching the Olympics. Artistic swimming started and I was excited to watch. I stayed in bed and read some blogs on my phone while I watched Olympic coverage.

Around 7:30, I got up, made the bed, brushed my teeth, and headed downstairs. We ALWAYS make our bed. Whoever gets up last, makes the bed. Jeff went to work today so it was me.

Around 8, I made myself some breakfast. I struggle with breakfast in the summer. Today I fried an egg and an egg white on toast with an ice cold Diet Pepsi. Do you spy my Olympic centerpiece in the background? I love it!

After I ate, I started cooking more eggs. Jack likes two or three eggs scrambled, Luke likes 3 fried egg whites, and I made some hard boiled eggs for later. Sometimes I make breakfast for the boys and some mornings they make their own breakfast. It just depends on the day and how everyone is feeling.

After the eggs were served, I started a load of towels. If this was a school year day in the life, you would never see this. Jeff does all of our laundry. In the summer, I pitch in a bit. It has been so hot and humid this summer that we’ve been washing more towels than ever before. I did flip the load to the dryer and fold it sometime before I went to bed, but I missed pictures of this.

After that started, it was back to the tv. I tuned into some water polo for a bit. I really enjoyed watching water polo this year. Jack played last year at school and now I understand the rules and strategies.

While I watched water polo, I did a core workout with Callie on the Peloton app.

As I was laying there doing my core workout, I realized that I hadn’t watered my indoor plants in a while. Oops! I watered all of my plants. I have plants in our office, dining room, and family room. When we built our family room, I included a lot of windows. Our family room is like a greenhouse and everything grows so well in there! The ivy in the top right corner is from a clipping from the White House. It has been growing like crazy in the family room and I put it outside for the summer where it still growing.

I was back to the Olympics for some diving around 9:30. I literally cannot get enough of the Olympic coverage!

Luke and I went to the pool (pool visit #1) a little before 10 to get ready for a video. It is crazy how many times prospective members ask me for a tour of the pool grounds before they join. I totally understand it, but when we go for a tour in March it’s just not the same. One of our lifeguards is in a video editing program in high school and I asked her if she could make a video tour for us. Luke and I kept out of the way while she was filming and taking photographs. I snapped a quick one, too.

While I was talking with the lifeguard about what to do next, Luke pitched in to help clean out the skimmer baskets. He is always ready to help at the pool, and it doesn’t help that he occasionally gets paid in ice cream for his services.

When I finished up, we headed home to get ready for the pool. As we drove up to the house, I realized that my outside plants needed some water, too! Took care of that! Do you spy my Team USA flag? We are all in on the Olympics over here!

I went to fill up my cups for the pool and realized the ice maker needed water. I am rarely happy when an appliance stops working, but I was thrilled when our freezer’s ice maker stopped working. I love our nugget ice maker and only fill it with distilled water to cut down on buildup.

Cups filled, ready to go. My big Swig is always filled with water. My smaller Swig is Diet Pepsi, Vitamin Water, or seltzer. I like choices, what can I say?

Around 11:30 Luke and I went back to the pool (pool visit #2) for the day. While we were home, we packed lunches and snacks in a cooler. Our pool sells ice cream and some snacks in the office, but that’s it.

This is my favorite spot at the pool, middle umbrella in the deep end. I sat down and had a little lunch.

I dashed home to get Jack because he had to lifeguard at 1. (pool visit #3) He didn’t want to come earlier with us and I’m fine with that. Our pool is less than 2 miles away so it’s not a big deal to go back and get him.

The US women’s soccer team was playing and the pool gang huddled around a lap top to cheer on the women. They won!!!

From 12:50ish when I got back with Jack until Jack got off at 5, I did this. The pool is one of the few places I can sit and relax so I do it when I am here. I had the Olympics going on my phone to check in with the live events. Do you see that fantastic lifeguard in the chair??

I forgot to take pictures for an hour or so. Jeff grilled hot dogs and Italian sausages and I made deviled eggs, salad, and pasta salad for dinner. We sat down together to enjoy it at the dining room table The boys cleared the table and loaded the dishwasher as much as they could get in there.

I reset the dining room table so it’s ready for tomorrow.

Then I headed out for a walk. I like to go for a walk most days to get my heart pumping and enjoy the fresh air. While I was on my walk, Jack cut the grass and Luke did some soccer drills.

I finished my walk around 7:30 and took a shower. I first used this lotion in Aruba and I love it! Jeff put some in my stocking last Christmas and I use it sparingly to make it last. It smells so good!

After showering, it was time for pjs and more Olympics. I didn’t take pictures of everything I watched, but anytime I was near a tv the Olympics were on. I was working on my Currently graphic for this month’s post in Canva.

After I finished blogging, I planned my workout for Wednesday. Love that Peloton app!

At 9:30, I brushed my teeth and refilled my bedside table cup. I grabbed my vitamin container from my nightstand. I heard about keeping it here from The Girl Next Door podcast and it has been a game changer for me. I haven’t missed my vitamins and supplements since I started keeping it here.

I turned off the lights at 10:06 and got ready to fall asleep. I fell asleep to the Olympics, of course. I also read myself to sleep every night. I prop my Kindle up on a pillow or the covers and read until I fall asleep. If I wake up in the middle of the night, I read then, too.

There is a day in the life of Summer Sarah. I love Summer Sarah’s days. I hope you enjoyed it! I’ll be back tomorrow with a linkup catch up. Have a great day full of sunshine and books!

That sounds like a wonderful day in the life!
