Let’s Look – 6/12/24

Happy Wednesday! This is one of my favorite linkups of the month because I am so curious about how other people do things. I try to find great systems for organizing, planning, and creating routines but I know there is always room for improvement.

In January, I shared my closet. I was excited to see what people wrote because mine had just fallen down.

In February, I shared little things I do every day.

In May, I shared my summer closet staples.

Today we are looking at summer schedules. As I was thinking about this topic, I realized that I can look at this two ways. One — the schedule of our entire summer. Two — my daily schedule.

Looking at our entire summer schedule, I usually start in early March. My kids have never done a bunch of camps so I don’t need to start the strategic planning as early as some of my friends do. I print out a one page calendar with the whole summer on it and start penciling in things as I get the dates. These are swim meets, family vacations, concerts, and special events. I make a copy of that calendar for Jeff and we sit down to add other fun things, like day trips and small vacations. Then, I just keep adding to it as the dates come in.

Looking at my daily schedule, it can be summed up with my ideal wardrobe: pjs, exercise clothes, bathing suit, pjs. If I can wear those things in that order, I’ve had a great day. My ideal summer schedule would be to wake up on my own, on the early side. I will read, catch up on blogs, and turn on the Today show in the background.

Then I’ll get dressed in my exercise clothes and do a Peloton strength or yoga workout in my basement.

We’ll eat breakfast and head to the pool for swim team practice at 9:00. I’ll either run a quick errand, talk to other swim moms, or read my book during practice. This summer, Jack will stay after his practice to coach the other two practices, from 10:15 – 12:00. I am planning on Luke and I heading over to the high school track to run after his practice at 10:15.

After that, I’ll dash home to change into my bathing suit and pack lunches before heading back to the pool by 11:30 or 12:00. My pool afternoon involves chatting with friends and reading in the sunshine.

When we run out of snacks, friends, or books, we’ll all head home. This year the boys have swim practice for their year round swim team from 4-6 every evening. I am planning on them going two or three times a week to keep in shape. I’ll likely stay in my bathing suit and cover up to drop them off at practice and make and eat dinner.

After dinner, I’ll take a shower and hop back into my pjs for the evening. I don’t mind sitting on our deck to read or talk with Jeff in my pjs on summer evenings. It’s shaded by that time of day and no one can see me from the street.

I love a sunset sky. 😍

I can’t wait to see everyone else’s answers. Today is the last teacher work day in my district. As a media specialist, I work two extra days before school starts and two after school ends. I am saving them for next week so I can really soak up the beginning of summer. Have a great day full of sunshine and books!

I often put on my pjs at the end of a lake day in the summer. Plus pjs are so cute now its sometimes hard to tell. Enjoy all that pool and book time! That’s my kind of summer too.
