Happy Wednesday! This is one of my favorite linkups of the month because I am so curious about how other people do things. I try to find great systems for organizing, planning, and creating routines but I know there is always room for improvement.

This month’s topic couldn’t have come at a better time! We are looking at how we clean our closets? Well, my closet looks like this

On my first day back to school in 2024, I grabbed a cardigan off the rack and a few seconds later, BAM! So I am mostly excited to look at other people’s closets today. I am trying to decide what to do from here. I’d love to do a total closet redo, but it is pretty pricey. I think this can be fixed by putting the supports in the actual studs and installing a support beam. I will be looking at everyone else’s for some inspiration.

My closet is was very organized! First by type (tank top, short sleeved shirt, long sleeved shirt, quarter zip, cardigan, long dress – winter and summer, short dress – winter and summer, pants, skirts) and then by color. It makes it so easy to find what I am looking for. 

In the past year or so, I have been editing my clothes hard. Even though I have been editing, when the closet fell and I was moving things around, I picked over 20 things to dontate or consign. I know I have said this a bunch, but I do it every time I get dressed! If I put something on and it doesn’t feel great all day, I put it in the donate or consign pile. This applies to everything – shoes, pants, shirts, undergarments (they go in the trash), socks, EVERYTHING!! I also go through my clothes in the middle and at the end of a season to edit out what I haven’t worn. I have a lot of clothes and I am not ashamed of that. Most of my clothes are a classic cut and high quality. I haven’t really changed sizes or style in over a decade, so it all still works. 

I will say I have one brand that I have a very hard time consigning or donating. Can you guess?? Yep, it’s Lilly Pulitzer! I really view my Lilly as a collection. I hope that one day my daughters-in-law or granddaughters are so excited to have access to my Lilly collection. It will be vintage by then, but it is a classic! Here’s a sneak peek at the guest room closet where I keep all my Lilly dresses. The Lilly tops stay in my regular closet with my other short sleeve or long sleeve tops. I also keep my vests and fancier dresses in the guest room closet.

For my birthday two years ago, I told Jeff I wanted all new hangers for my tops and dresses. It was a big project but I love my hangers and how uniform everything looks. It really brings me joy every day! 

So, do you have any suggestions for keeping that bar up in my closet? I am thinking the supports need to be put into studs and maybe an additional support at the end, at the very least. I can’t wait to see everyone else’s posts about closets.
