Hello Monday – 3/18/24

Happy Monday! I’m here with Holly sharing some fun from our week. I hope you’ll link up with us for Hello Monday!

Well, last week got away from me! I had quite a few out of the ordinary things and I didn’t get to blogging at all.

On Tuesday, I met Elle Cosimano with two girlfriends. We read Finlay Donovan is Killing It in our now defunct book club last year. Elle’s new book Finlay Donovan Rolls the Dice came out this month and she was on book tour. This is the fourth book in the series and I read books two, three, and four in the past week or so. They are all so fun! It was great to hear her chat with the narrator for the Finlay Donovan books. They had such great chemistry and Elle was so lovely! I saw a bunch of my bookish friends there, too!

On Wednesday, we had parent teacher conferences at school. It was so beautiful and we have a 30 minute “dinner” break between the end of school and the start of conferences. I spent that time outside reading some new books for the library.

Jack had his first high school golf match. He played really well and won his match. His team won, too! It was a great way to kick off the season!

On Thursday, I picked my sister up at the airport and we headed to Virginia. My uncle passed away and we were headed to our family for his service. Though it was sad, it was good to see my sister and extended family. It was also nice to have some time with my parents and sister.

I got home on Saturday in time to make it to Luke’s soccer game. He had a tournament this weekend and played Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. The team got together for lunch after the Sunday game, too. It was good team bonding for them.

Our local bagel shop has green bagels every St. Patrick’s Day. I got the last three this year!

We spent Sunday afternoon getting ready for the week and enjoying the sunshine. All four of us played pickleball for a while. The kids played outside, I read outside, and Jeff spent some time outside, too.

I realized I never shared my February goals update and some goals I am setting for this month. To be completely honest, I like to keep things positive here on Sunshine & Books, and there is not much postive to report regarding my February goals. It was busier than I anticipated and I lost sight of what I wanted to do.

Two dates with Jeff – nope
Workout 3 days a week in the morning – nope
Walk or run 3 days a week – yes, but no running
Get 23 minutes outside every day – most days, but not all
Work on my posture – sort of.

Do you see what I mean? Yikes! My March goals are a little different and I am focusing on them for the last two weeks of the month.

Decrease screen time by 5% as measured by my phone on Sundays
Get 23 minutes outside every day
Walk or run 5 days a week
Spend some one on one time with Jeff both weeks

I am trying to give myself some grace in this season and also make sure I am spending my time the way I really want to. I am setting plans to make this month more successful than last month was. Do you ever set mid-month goals? What are your strategies for getting back on track when things feel off the rails? I’d love to hear what you are working on.

Don’t forget to link up with Holly and me below if you blogged today. This week looks like another busy one, so I have no idea what will happen here on Sunshine & Books. I hope you had a lucky weekend for St. Patrick’s Day! As we get started this week, I share one of my favorite Irish blessings and photos with you.

May the road rise to meet you,
may the wind always be at your back,
may the sun shine warm upon your face,
may the rains fall upon your fields,
and until we meet again may God hold you in the palm of his hand.

Have a great day full of sunshine and books!

Love the pic of your sister and I’m sorry for your loss. Love the green bagels and your sunglasses. It was very smart of you to get outside on your long day – makes a world of difference!

I’m sorry for your loss Sarah but glad to read you got some QT in with your sister and the cups and Lilly are just too cute! Give yourself some grace on the goals- you get so much done and are a great mom!

I’m sorry for your family’s loss of your uncle. I always love to meet a book author– I am just always amazed at their creativity and story ideas.
I don’t set monthly goals but I think that is a great idea! I live in Colorado so we have been snowed in a lot this winter so reading has been my big accomplishment –I really have to make some goals to get out and walk more now that spring is here.

Sorry to hear about your uncle but glad you got to spend some time with family. I am so excited for the 4th Finlay book; they’re always such a riot. Sadly our library doesn’t have it so I just may be breaking down to buy it!

That’s so cool that you Elle Cosimano. I’ve only read the first book, but I really liked it! I’m so sorry for your loss, but sister time looks like fun. Your weekend looked lovely too. Congrats to Jack.
