Happy Monday! I’m here with Holly sharing some fun from our weekend. I hope you’ll link up with us for Hello Monday!

My dad’s birthday is in September and last year our gift was a day at the Udvar-Hazy Air & Space Museum. Jeff and I took Luke in July and I knew my dad would love it. He was excited to go and we finally found a day that worked for all of us. I was a little worried that it would be super crowded because it was MLK weekend, but it really wasn’t. We were there for almost 6 hours and didn’t even see everything! We started in the space area. I am still amazed to see the space shuttle Discovery!

My dad and Luke spent a good bit of time like this.

We saw the IMAX movie Deep Sky. It is about NASA’s Webb telescope and was incredible! This telescope is so powerful and technologically advanced that the scientists think they can see evidence of the first galaxies from millions of years ago!! As soon as we got in the car to come home, I hopped on Instagram to follow the Webb telescope.

We were all pretty excited to see the Blackbird and the Enola Gay (even though its mission was so horrendous). It was incredible to see current military planes and some of ultralight aircrafts.

We spent some time in the observation tower watching planes land at Dulles airport. I could spend the whole afternoon up there with the FlightRadar24 app. It’s so cool to see where planes are coming from and what planes are in the sky at any given moment.

We had a yummy lunch at Shake Shack, the restaurant museum, and then went to the restoration hanger. No one was working because it was Sunday, but it was really neat to see all the tools and what they are working on. It was time to go home and we grabbed one last picture.

I spent some time this weekend working on little projects that I have been putting off. I took them down on Monday afternoon because we were supposed to get terrible weather, but they sat in piles all week. Luke and I wrapped up our outside Christmas lights and put them back in the storage bins.
I finally got the pictures printed for these photo Christmas ornaments that I got in 2016 when we went to Disney World. I know, I know, ridiculous! It only took me a few minutes when I finally did it!

I made a list of a few more little things that I’m hoping to get done today since we do not have school. I might tackle a few on Tuesday, too, since we are expecting snow Monday night.
Jen shared a cute purse she got recently and it reminded me of this purse I have, but have never used. My mom got it as a gift with purchase, but didn’t love it. It was absolutely perfect for our trip to the musuem. It held everything I needed, including a water bottle!

One more favorite from this weekend is Canada Dry zero sugar cranberry ginger ale. I loved the regular version when I was pregnant with Jack and Luke and was so excited to find the zero sugar version. I know it is seasonal so I grabbed a few bottles. If you haven’t tried it, look for it in your store. It’s a great mix of ginger ale sweet and cranberry tart.

I didn’t read very much this weekend, so I am hoping to change that this week. I spent way too much time mindlessly scrolling social media. Nuts! I mentioned hoping to get back to a routine on Friday, but it doesn’t look like this is the week for it. I’m going to try to stick to my routines for sleep, reading, exercise, meal planning, and grocery pickup even though our schedule will be all over the place. If you blogged today, be sure to link up below! Have a great day full of sunshine and books!

That museum trip sounds so fun!
What a great gift idea! We once went to the Dayton, OH Air Force Museum with my Dad (he was an Air Force pilot) and we have video of him talking about all the planes.
I love that pink purse – I thought of you and all my Lily P. loving blog friends – Tom’s work gave him a gift card to spend on this gift catalog website and I picked a gold Lily P. crossbody purse because Tom didn’t want anything and gave it to me! Score!
Not sure what will happen with school tomorrow, but I hope they let us know earlier rather than later!
Oooo! I can’t wait to see your new purse! What a treasure to have that video of your dad!
What a fun museum day and LOVE the crossbody 🙂
We went to that museum about 10 years ago and absolutely loved it!
It really is a great musuem!
Wow! That museum looks amazing. I hope you’ve had a great day off.
It really is a great musuem! When we were there, I realized it has been 8 years since we’ve been to the Air & Space musuem on the mall in DC. I am hoping to get back there this year now that the kids are a bit older.
We are thinking about going to DC for spring break. I’d love any tips/ideas/suggestions for what to see and do if you have any thoughts.
Absolutely! I’ll put some ideas together. Holly took a great DC trip recently. Her post was full of good stuff!
Oh thank u! I will check that out too!
Sounds like a brilliant day out. We are off to see an immersive experience about space narrated by Tom Hanks. Have a great week!
I enjoyed reading your post. We used to love the Air and Space Museum when we lived in Virginia and the IMAX movies were always amazing!
My kids would love a museum like that, looks so fun!
Sarah, Love your museum trip. You alway find the most interesting things to see and do! Thanks so much for co-hosting the Hello Monday Link Party. I appreciate all you do to make is such a great “party”. Have a great week! Patty
