Happy Friday! I hope you have had a great week! Ours has been pretty wacky but we made it to Friday! I have some favorites to share with you, so let’s get to it!

Favorite 1: ROUTINE!! I say that routine is my favorite, but I only know this because we haven’t had any routine this week! Luke was home sick Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. He woke me up around 3:30 am with what we thought was pink eye and that’s how my week started. I took off Tuesday morning to stay home with him and we had a 2 hour early dismissal Tuesday afternoon for weather. We also had a two hour delay on Wednesday. It’s exam week at Jack’s school so he and Jeff went to school for 2 hours on Monday and Tuesday morning. They were off Wednesday for weather, and went to school Thursday for the whole day. Jack is off today but Jeff’s going to work. Luke and I are going to school for a full day today. All that to say, I really like a routine and it’s a little harder when we don’t have it.
Luckily, Luke is feeling better! However, next week isn’t looking so good for our routine either with Monday off and a threat of snow and ice Monday night into Tuesday. I love a two hour delay, but I am ready for a little bit of regularness.
Favorite 2: AUTHORS!! We hosted Lincoln Peirce at school on Wednesday afternoon. Lincoln Peirce is the author of the Big Nate books and the Max and the Midknights series. My kids and students love them both! He was funny and inspired a bunch of readers, writers, and cartoonists at our school!

I took our books in to have them signed and Luke kept grabbing the Big Nate books to read from my pile.

Favorite 3: PAT MCGEE!! I listened to Pat McGee all the time in college! I saw him in concert a bunch, had some signed drumsticks, and even ended up on the tour bus once. I was scrolling through the concerts coming to a local venue and saw that he is coming in February and playing his From The Wood album straight through! I am so excited!! I listened to the whole album Thursday morning while I was working and it made me smile the whole time! I was loving all the memories from his shows, my time at JMU, and my fantastic college roommates. I can’t wait to go to the show!

Favorite 4: PIZZA!! On Tuesday, I shared my goals for the month and one was to cut down on eating out. I love having pizza on Friday nights and we found a favorite for making it at home. Trader Joe’s has a premade pizza crust that comes in a two pack. I can cook both on one jelly roll pan, barely. They are delicious and pretty inexpensive. Jack and Luke loved them, too! Tonight we are having them for dinner. I picked up the bruschetta sauce to use as sauce for my portion. I might try it with a pesto sauce next time.

Favorite 5: SWIM! Jack had a high school swim meet this week and he did a great job! He was right on his best time in 500 free and got to swim in two relays. I had a great time in the stands chatting with some of the parents that I hadn’t seen since before Christmas.

Hello Monday
Monthly Goals
Jolabokaflod 2023
Not many pictures in the blog this week because I was out of my normal routine!! I am looking forward to a three day weekend. We have plans on Saturday and Sunday, but nothing on Monday. Hopefully everyone will stay healthy and go to school every day! I am looking forward to a cozy, snowy evening on Monday to read and play some games together. I hope you have a great weekend full of sunshine and books!

Hope you get back into a routine soon! All those crazy scedules cam make the week feel more hectic at times.
You just inspired me to make our pizza tonight- thank you! 🙂
Ugh – so sorry! It’s a blessing we didn’t get the bad weather we could have because we needed to be back in the school routine for semester exams this week. And, we have a 3 day weekend now so it worked out. Friday night pizza used to be our go to with kids at home, too. So easy and fun! That sounds great!
We have a 3 day weekend with the possiblity of a 4 day weekend with some snow/ice. We’ll see!
That is a crazy week! I hope you all have a wonderful weekend.
