Hello Monday – 10/16/23

Happy Monday! I’m here with Holly sharing some fun from our weekend. I hope you’ll link up with us for Hello Monday! It’s good to be back after I missed Friday’s post. Our Thursday went off the rails when I got a call from the school nurse and she said, “Luke’s ok but I did have to take the wheelchair out to get him in from recess.” YIKES!! Luke hurt his hip flexor kicking a flat ball really hard. So our planned Thursday afternoon and evening went off the rails and finishing my post was the first to go. Luke is going to be ok, but he’s still hurting. The hardest part is the rest. Luke doesn’t love to sit still or rest, but he’s doing best.

Luke and I spent the weekend in one of my favorite places! James Madison University!!! We didn’t let an injury hold us back. I picked him up after school and we hit the road. It took over three hours to get there because one road was closed and traffic was busy. When we pulled into Massanutten Resort, Luke was so excited and recounted everything they did for Camp Gigi there last year. We got to the house and both my aunts, many of my cousins and their kids, and Annie, Zach, and Maggie were already there. It was so good to see everyone!!

We stayed up WAY TOO LATE on Friday night, but no one wanted to go to bed when we were catching up. Tailgating time for the noon game on Saturday morning came early but we made it over with a few hours to tailgate. It was so chilly and we were worried about rain, but it held off.

The whole gang! In this picture there are 10 JMU alumni! We love our JMU!!

We headed down to the game a bit early so we could see the Marching Royal Dukes, the JMU marching band play. They are so good and make every one of us smile big! My cousin Brian was in the band when he was at JMU so it’s fun to hear his thoughts and memories when they play! The game was an absolute route! JMU won 41-6! When the team scores, lots of people in the stands throw streamers to celebrate. It’s so fun!

I love a picture with the Duke Dog statue!

After the game, we tackled the bookstore. Luke hasn’t been to a JMU game in years because he always had a soccer game conflict. He was ready for some new gear. They did visit the bookstore last year for Camp Gigi but Luke picked all black stuff and wanted some purple.

We all headed back to the house after visiting the bookstore. We had snacks and dinner and hung out for the rest of the evening. It was so good to catch up with everyone!!

Luke and I were the first ones out Sunday morning because he had an early soccer game. He couldn’t play but wanted to be there. Luke’s a captain and was excited that coach let him do the captain duties even though he wasn’t playing.

We got home around noon and started to get ready for the week. I picked up a copy of The Breeze, the James Madison University newspaper. I made a little time to sit down and read it. I still love the Darts & Pats section!

This week might be our calmest week of the fall. Water polo is wrapping up, soccer practice is up in the air, and we don’t have anything extra scheduled on the weeknights. Next weekend is going to be busy, so I am relishing in the possibility of a quieter week. Be sure to link up with us below. Have a great day full of sunshine and books!

I hope Luke feels better soon. Hayden had a similar injury last year and had to rest and stretch. JMU visit looks like fun! I love the pic by the Duke Dog statue. I hope you all have a great week.
