Friday Favorites – 9/29/23

Happy Friday! This has been a week! I am hoping to have a Friday post that doesn’t start with that soon! The good news is we were pretty close to a routine week, the bad news is that bigger kids have later practices and we were out until 10 a few nights! That’s way later than my preferred 7 pm pajamas time. I do have some favorites from the week, so let’s get to them!

Linking up with Erika and Andrea

Favorite 1: TWINNING!! The school water polo gear came in last week. Jack and I wore the same shirt for his game on Thursday!

I am really enjoying watching him with his new friends and seeing how he’s starting to make his way in high school.

Favorite 2: BOOKS! Luke and I have had a lot of time together in the car and hanging out at the house. After we talk for a while, we often turn on our audio book. Lately, we’ve pushed pause to talk about the story and make connections quite often.

I finished The Soulmate by Sally Hepworth this week. I absolutely loved it! It was suspenseful, but not scary and I could not put it down!

I just started The Darlings by Hannah McKinnon. I love her books and this one is looking like it will be a favorites!

Favorite 3: SUNSHINE!! It was hard to believe it but the sun did come out for a little bit on Wednesday and Thursday. It felt so good to have a little sunshine on my cheeks. I was also loving driving without windshield wipers on!

Favorite 4: RUNNING! Well, this is an I’ll love it soon favorite. I started doing the walk+run workouts on the Peloton app again. I ran much faster than I thought I would and for longer than I was planning Wednesday night. It felt great, but I woke up Thursday morning to some pretty sore legs.

Favorite 5: PHONE CASE! I was in the market for a new phone case and found this one. Jack saw it and said “Wow, Mom’s phone looks like all the girls in my grade now!” Ha! I love the bright color and glitter. I may have gotten a purple on for our JMU trip, too.

I am not sure what this weekend will bring, but I hope it is some sunshine! Luke has two soccer games, Jeff has a work function, Jack has swim practices, and I am along for the ride. I’ll let you know if we meet our goal and actually hang something up around the house. I’ll see you back here on Monday for Hello Monday. Have a great weekend full of sunshine and books!

I was so happy to see the sun yesterday! It has been such a rainy week here.. That new phone case is pretty; I bought a new one too in a peachy pink color with a fall leaf pop socket to go with it. Off to see if my library has that McKinnon book.

Will you share some of the audio books you and your son like to listen to? I have a lot of carpool time with my kids too and that’s a great idea! Thank you!

Luke listened to all of the Diary of a Wimpy Kid books on his own. We are working our way through Harry Potter. We are almost finished book 6. Next we are going to listen to the rest of the Spy School series by Stuart Gibbs. I am debating listening to A Walk in the Woods by Bill Bryson too. It’s an adult book, but often used in high schools. Luke loves hiking and the outdoors so it may be a good fit. I’d also like to listen to Stamped by Jason Reynolds and Ibram X. Kendi so we can talk about it.

It does sound like a busy week! I like to be in my pajamas by 7pm too.
It sounds like Jack is settling in well at high school. We have had some sunshine this week too which was so nice. It was back to raining today though.
