Friday Favorites – 8/11/23

Happy Friday! I had a great summer week! I have some favorites to share with you from the last two weeks so let’s get to it!

Linking up with Erika and Andrea

Favorite 1: BEACH!! We had a great week at the beach with my parents, my sister, her husband, and my niece. I didn’t pick my phone up much so I didn’t take nearly as many pictures as I thought I would. We were in Corolla in the Outer Banks of North Carolina. I love that beach.

I started every day with a 2 mile sunrise walk.

The sand is soft and lovely to nap in.

The ocean waves are fun to boogie board and play in. They boys surfed but I only got a picture of Jack catching a wave.

I loved the outdoor shower! I’m not sure if I mentioned it here or not, but any time I can use an outdoor shower I am. I love everything about it! I usually don’t shower until after 8 pm at the beach so it’s usually dark, but that doesn’t bother me. I turn the flashlight on my phone, blast some music, and have a great shower.

We got to see a rocket launch on the beach Tuesday evening. It was so cool to watch it blast across the sky. We were thrilled to hear that the rocket made it to the ISS to deliver supplies.

We ended the week walking down the beach to see some friends from town.

My only regret from the week was that we didn’t get a full group picture.

Favorite 2: GOLF!! Jack played in a golf tournament on Tuesday and has two more this weekend. We’ve been to the driving range and putting green a few times.

On one of these trips, we had a putting competition. The girl in the pink dress was the winner!

Favorite 3: FRIENDS!! One of Luke’s buddies is in 4H and the fair is this week. We decided to go watch his friend and his sister show their goats on Sunday evening. It was so much fun and they did a great job!

Favorite 4: TREES! We had a terrible storm on Monday evening. You may have seen Westminster, Maryland on the NBC Nightly News or the Today Show. That is the town I grew up in and just a few miles north of us. We ended up losing power for about 8 hours, which felt pretty lucky. We had a few big branches go down and the pool had a tree across the driveway when we went to check on it. The reason trees are my favorite is that all of our trees fell somewhere that caused no damage. They avoided our house, the shed, the pool and buildings, and our roads.

The one good part of no power was that the kids played a bunch of fun games and we all read a bit, too!

Favorite 5: SOCCER!! We got home from the beach late on Saturday night, but we were all up to catch the end of the US women’s World Cup match. We were bummed that they lost but it is always exciting to watch penalty kicks.

Favorite 6: OUTFIT! So this is the outfit I chose to pick Jack up from his first high school tryout! Yikes! How is this happening so fast!! He’s trying out for water polo and is loving it so far! It’s all old Lilly, but so comfy!

Favorite 7: BOOKS! I have hit my summer reading stride and I read a few great books last month. I shared them late Tuesday evening. I loved The Unsinkable Greta James and finished it in just a few days!

Hello Monday

Let’s Look

We are heading back to the beach for the weekend and I am excited! The weather looks perfect for beach and golf! Have a great weekend full of sunshine and books!

Your vacation sounds so wonderful! But that storm was crazy! I live in the Greenville, SC area and it was really intense here for maybe a half hour (our neighbor’s trampoline almost blew away but got stuck on their fence) and our power almost went out twice but came right back on. I’m glad none of the trees fell on your house or anything!

Looks like you had a fabulous time at the beach! So glad all the downed trees missed all the important things.
