Hello Monday – 8/7/23

Happy Monday! I’m here with Holly sharing some summer fun. I hope you’ll link up with us for Hello Monday!

Before I get to the summer fun, I want to wish my parents a very happy anniversary!! 47 years ago today, these two kids tied the knot and I am so grateful for the wonderful life and family they have built with love!

Today I am sharing the pictures from our summer swim banquet. Every year on the last Saturday in July we have our division championship meet. The boys both got to swim in it and did really well. In fact, I think this was the best they’ve ever done in divisionals. Our pool didn’t host the swim meet so it was a very early morning, but not too far of a drive.

Divisionals (the division championship meet) ends around 1 pm and we all head home for a few hours to rest and clean up a bit. Then, the whole team meets up at our pool for the banquet. The kids dress up a little and it is all about the fun!

We missed Jeff, who was at work on Saturday night.

We also realized that Jack has officially passed me in height at the banquet!

After we eat dinner, they gather the team and hand out awards. They usually call the kids up by age group. Luke was an 11-12 and Jack a 13-14. We had a ton of 11-12s, but only 6 13-14 swimmers.

Everyone gets the team gift, sunglasses this year, and they also get any trophies or ribbons from divisionals, the league championship, and our county meet. Then they award the Triple D awards – dominant dolphin, dedicated dolphin, and dynamic dolphin. A few years ago Jack was the dedicated dolphin and Luke was the dominant dolphin. This year Luke was the dedicated dolphin. The coach gave a nice speech about how he’s always willing to help in any way and can always be found cheering on his teammates. Way to go buddy!

After the awards, there is usually swimming and dancing way into the night. This year it was cut a little shorter because of the heat and I was ok with it. My alarm was set for 4:10 the next morning to head to the beach.

It was a great way to end a wonderful swim season!

I hope you’ll link up below for Hello Monday. I can’t wait to see what others are blogging about today! I’ll be back tomorrow with what I’ve been reading lately. Have a great day full of sunshine and books!

Congrats to your parents and to your son on his height! Ha! What a fun banquet and I know that swimming is such a big part of your lives and provides a great community for the kids. I did swim for years and my sisters did it for longer!
