Friday Favorites – 7/21/23

Happy Friday! I can’t believe we are already two-thirds of the way through July! It’s going too fast!!! SLOW DOWN SUMMER!!! I have had a good summer week, so let’s get to the favorites!

Linking up with Erika and Andrea

Favorite 1: SWIM TEAM!! I will forever say that I love summer swim!! It is one of the few teams that 4 year olds are on the same team as 18 year olds and everyone in between. The kids all cheer for each other and it really is a family atmosphere. My guys are on the older half of the team now and it’s so great to see them cheering on and helping the little ones.

They are both swimming well right now and that’s always fun, too! We had a county meet on Wednesday night that has been going on for decades. I used to swim in it when I was a swimmer. One of the coolest parts of the night was when Luke swam against one of my swim friend’s sons. They were well matched and great sports!

The boys also got to swim with their winter swim buddies. They all swim for the same winter team but swim for different summer teams. It was so fun!

Jeff and I did our thing, cheering on the boys!

Jack even made the paper the next morning!

We have one more dual meet and the division championship meet and that’s it for summer swim. Just one week left, which is not a favorite!

Favorite 2: JACK!! Jack’s glasses came in this week and he loves them. He is amazed at how much clearer everything is. I feel a little terrible that I didn’t realize things were so fuzzy far away. Either way, I’m glad he has them and can see clearly now.

Jack was in study skills camp this week. It was so great! It’s only for freshmen and they learn what they need to do to be successful in high school – note taking, time management, studying strategies, the online platforms they’ll use, tips for success, where things are, and more. Even though he had to be up and out pretty early in the morning, it was a great experience.

Favorite 3: LUKE!! Luke was my buddy this week while Jack was in camp. We did our third all-dayer of the year at the pool on Monday. It was fun day of swimming from 10:15 am – 8:50 pm.

We didn’t go to the pool on Wednesday because of the evening swim meet. Jeff and I decided it was going to be the day Luke gets a phone. He was so excited!!

Favorite 4: BOOKS!! Now that my class is over, I am back to my normal summer reading pace. I finished The Five-Star Weekend by Elin Hilderbrand and I absolutely loved it!!

Right now, I am actually reading four books! GASP!! I am reading Off The Clock by Laura Vanderkam from the library. I am reading Same Time Next Summer by Annabel Monaghan on my kindle. I am listening to Born a Crime by Trevor Noah by myself and I am listening to Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix by J.K. Rowling with Luke. I am about to reread The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime by Mark Hadden with Jack.

Hello Monday

I have a lot of good stuff this weekend. A swim meet, a first birthday party, and a family birthday celebration. I’m planning on spending today at the pool for swim practice, hanging out, and our team pep rally. What are you up to this weekend? Have a great day full of sunshine and books!

I need to read that book about feeling less busy and having more time. I love books like that. Even if I only get a little nugget, it’s worth it!
What a great week and I know – it’s going so fast!
