Friday Favorites – 10/12/18

Happy Friday! We had a great week and I am excited about school today! We have our annual Dance-A-Thon and it is a fun day for the kids and specials teachers! I am linking up with Erika, Narci, and Andrea to share my favorites from the week.

Favorite 1: JMU!! I recapped our trip to James Madison University earlier this week, but I am still thinking about how much I love that place.  I made great friends, had a great time, learned lots, and became a grown up at JMU.  Everything about it holds a special place in my heart!

This place makes me so happy! Love seeing Wilson Hall in the background!

Favorite 2: BOOKS! I joined a new link up on Tuesday called Show Us Your Books and I am so happy I did. I loved seeing everything that so many people have been reading and it was good to hear what people had to say about the books I’ve read. I added a few books to my To Be Read list and bought two for my kindle.

I finally finished Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine. No spoilers but I totally did not see the ending coming.  I found the first 2/3 to be a little slow but then I couldn’t put the book down. I even woke up early to finish it the other morning. I found Eleanor to be a loveable character and was quite pleased with how the book ended.

I started Elin Hilderbrand’s new book, Winter In Paradise, and I love it already. One of my favorite things that authors do is have characters from other books make an appearance.  Elin’s books have all taken place on Nantucket so I look for it in her books.  This is her first book not set on Nantucket. It takes place in her winter home away from home, St. John USVI. Elin did not disappoint, just a few chapters in Elin’s already mentioned a Mitzi Quinn (squeal!!). I am hoping to finish the book in the next few days, but I am also hoping it takes a little longer so I can savor every moment of a beachy escape!

Favorite 3: MY SOLAR CLOCK IS TICKING! I saw this shade of OPI polish on a Southern Living list a few weeks ago and I loved it.  Ulta, Walgreens, Walmart, and Amazon were all sold out of the color so I set out on some internet research. I found it and couldn’t wait to put it on my nails. I really love it!

Favorite 4: GOLF CAMP!! The boys were off school on Monday and asked to go to Challedon golf camp.  They went all day and had a great time!

They had their second session of after school golf clinic and loved it, too! I had about 30 minutes to go for a run in the neighborhoods around our school and it was fantastic.  I was running at whatever pace felt good and got to run on some new roads.

Favorite 5: SUNSHINE! It was summertime hot on Sunday and the sun felt amazing!  I went for a run during Jack’s baseball practice at 1 pm. It was sunny, hot, and humid. I added to my new route from last week and made it a six mile run. It was so nice to find a paved trail along a beautiful river!

Favorite 6: IMPACT! Luke’s soccer team, the Impact, went to our high school soccer game last night.  They were so stinking cute! It was a big rivalry game between the two high schools in our town.  The little boys were so cute cheering for the high school they will go to in 7 or 8 years.  We didn’t stay for the whole game because it started to rain and then thundered, so we headed out.

That’s it for this week! I hope everyone has a great weekend full of sunshine and books! We have big plans for the weekend! Luke has two soccer games, Jack has a baseball tournament, and we have a wedding! I am hoping to run 6.5 or 7 miles on Saturday morning before all of the games begin.
