Friday Favorites – 5/4/18

Whew! We made it! It’s Friday!! 🎉🎉🎉

I am linking up with Erika, Narci, and Andrea to share some favorites today. Here we go!

Favorite 1: THE SUNSHINE! The weather has been amazing this week. It’s been hot and sunny – my absolute favorite! I’ve been wearing bright spring dresses to work, spending lots of time outside, and soaking up as much as I can!

I am loving The Forever Summer by Jamie Brenner. Perfect for reading in the sunshine while Jack’s baseball team warms up.

It’s finally warm enough to wear some dresses! I love this sweatshirt dress – so comfy yet cute!

I love my pineapple dress, especially on a silly school morning like this one!

This is one of my favorite dresses for school – comfy and cute! And I love it with my sole/society wedges. They were comfy at school all day!

Favorite 2: JACK’s MUSIC CLASS! One of the perks of working at your kiddos’ school is that I get to see things I’d never see otherwise. Jack’s music teacher had the class perform a few songs today for our administrators and she invited me to come. They were AMAZING!! I was so proud of Jack and his class!

Favorite 3: THE END OF HOMEWORK!! Luke and his classmates wrote letters to persuade his teacher that this should be their last sentence writing homework of the year. They worked!! Last sentence writing homework of the year is complete!! ❤️☀️😎

Favorite 4: TULIPS! I love tulips! They are my favorite “in the house” flower. Tulips brighten whatever room they’re in. My favorite flowers are peonies. They were my wedding flowers. However, Jeff’s really allergic to them so I have to enjoy them elsewhere. We decided to give the boys’ teachers tulips for May Day and each one said the same thing, that tulips brightened the day!

Favorite 5: THIS BOOK!!

Lies and Other Acts of Love by Kristy Woodson Harvey is INCREDIBLE! Bump it to the top of your To Read list now! It is the story of Annabelle and her grandmother, Lovey, and how their little white lies affect their relationships. Annabelle broke up with her fiancé to marry a man she’d only known for a few days and has to figure out life with a stranger. Lovey has been married for 60 years and reflects on her marriage and daughters. Harvey does an amazing job telling their stories together. It is an example of southern fiction perfection! I smiled, cried (for 20 pages!!), and loved this family.

When I met Kristy Woodson Harvey last month, she said this was based on her grandparents story. Now I’m so curious as to which parts! This book comes highly recommended from me!!

That’s all for this week! We are celebrating Luke with his buddies this weekend. I have a lot of work to do on my National Board recertification, so there won’t be much reading time. 😫 I hope you have a fabulous weekend full of sunshine and books!

Well hi there! Stopping by from H54F! I am a guidance counselor and my kids attended my elementary school so what you said really resonated with me. It was such a nice job perk to be able to see my sweet boys during the school day!
