Happy Wednesday! I am so happy to be blogging in the middle of the week! I enjoyed my last day of spring break yesterday and am ready for a short week to ease back into school. My Hello Monday post was a quick look at some things over the weekend, but I thought I’d share a little more today. I missed Amy’s Currently linkup last week and it’s one of my favorites, so I am going to share what I’ve been up to with her prompts.

Planning
This weekend was a lot of planning. Some in advance and some on the fly. I was also planning when to fit in some daily exercise. I am still working on my Peloton streak so I needed to find a way to get a Peloton class in each day. I took advantage of the sunshine and warmer temperatures near Charleston and went for walks outside almost every day. I walked in my sister’s neighborhood and on the street where our airbnb was.
My brother-in-law did some planning to get the guys a tee time at the Ocean course in Kiawah. They were so excited to play and everyone had a great time!

I had to do some re-planning when Jack had a golf match pop up, so he and Jeff came home on Sunday morning. That meant Luke and I were going to be on our own on Monday. I was chatting with a friend about her recent trip to Charleston and she recommended Patriot’s Point. It was perfect! We ended up spending a little over 4 hours on the USS Yorktown and in the Vietnam experience.

We only left because our parking had expired and Luke wanted to see the Battery before we flew home.

I planned to do a little exploring in Charleston, but we didn’t have much time. I was so glad that we went to the market and saw an artisan weaving sweet grass baskets and crosses. It was neat to see. I love my sweet grass basket that we got as a wedding present.

Cleaning
Amy suggested spring cleaning, but I was doing more summer cleaning. We went to the beach on Easter for a little while. It was so windy that our towels were completely covered in sand when we went down to the water. I used my tote/purse for a beach bag and I have been cleaning sand out of it for a few days. I don’t mind the sand though. It is a good reminder of beachy times!

I was planning to do some cleaning out of the bins in our shed over spring break, but I didn’t get to it. Maybe I’ll tackle it this weekend.
Eating & Drinking
All the candy! Easter candy is my kryptonite. I simply cannot resist it. Nerds jellybeans, Hershey’s eggs, Reese’s eggs, chocolate bunnies, I love it all!
I drank a bunch of water this weekend with my mom and sister. It is no secret that I love a Swig party cup. I thought the hydrangea print was so pretty and got it for a little Easter gift for my mom and sister. Since we all had the same cup, we each got a different color Swig sparkle straw.

We at delicious BBQ on Friday night to celebrate Jack’s birthday. It was from Lewis Barbeque. If you are ever in the area, I highly recommend it!

We ate lunch outside on Saturday at a restaurant on Shem Creek. We saw a few dolphins and enjoyed the warm weather.

Annie and Zach hosted a delicious brunch and a yummy dinner on Sunday for us all.
Luke spotted a key lime pie shop on the map of Charleston I picked up at the rental car desk. I was more than happy to visit and try a slice. It was divine!

Reading & Watching
I am still reading Mona’s Eyes but it didn’t feel like a spring break book. I read Kristy Woodson Harvey’s new short story on the plane to Charleston. It was perfect to get me in that spring break mindset. And I embarrased both of my kids by taking this picture with the flash (gasp!!) on a dark plane. Oh the horrors!!😉

I started Down with the Shipmans by Meg Mitchell Moore thanks to an ARC from NetGalley next. I am loving it. It is the story of three sisters and their family’s beach house. Right up my alley!

We had the privilege of watching my brother-in-law get baptized, receive his first holy communion, and get confirmed on Saturday night. This was the main reason we went to Charleston for Easter. He completed his conversion to Catholicism. It was a beautiful mass! The Easter Vigil is always long and we were prepared for 4+ hours, but the priest moved things right along and we were finished in 2.5 hours.

Loving
I am loving that I finally got a sunny beach day! I know it seems weird to say that in early April, but our trip to Florida had iffy weather and I was really hoping for some beach time. The beach parking gods were on our side and I found a parking spot 4 cars off the beach. Luke and I had a wonderful time on the beach and swam in the ocean for a bit.

Jeff’s aunt, uncle, and cousin live in the Charleston area. We spent some time with them on Saturday morning. It was so good to see them and catch up. I didn’t take a single picture with them, nuts!! I am really glad it worked out to visit though!
It was nice to spend some time with my parents and sister, brother-in-law, and niece this weekend. I love when we get everyone together. We have a big family vacation planned this summer and it will be so nice to just be together without other commitments.
I loved seeing many of the places that Dorothea Benton Frank and Mary Alice Monroe have written about. I would love to plan (back to topic 1) a book trip that would visit the places both of those fabulous authors have written about.
My spring break was Thursday – Tuesday. It was nice to have a day at home on Thursday before we left Thursday night and on Tuesday when the boys were back in school. I didn’t do much relaxing on those two days, but I do feel like I am refreshed and ready to jump back into things. I’ll be back on Friday (hopefully) with some more favorites from the week. Have a great day full of sunshine and books!!

It sounds like you had a really lovely spring break! My husband and I stayed right near Patriot Place and enjoyed a day exploring the ship and often took a ferry from our resort to downtown so we could enjoy the marketplace in the evening.
