Hello Monday – 3/2/26

Happy Monday! I’m starting the week with Holly and all of you! I hope you’ll link up with us for Hello Monday!

Oh my goodness! I feel like a new lady after 3 days in a row of sunshine. Did you have a sunny Friday, Saturday, and Sunday? It was so lovely! I spent a good bit of time outside on Saturday and a little less on Sunday because it was chilly. Either way, that sunshine was such a boost!

On Friday night, we had our culminating activity for our schoolwide book club. All five elementary schools in our town read the same book again this year, so our public library hosted the culminating event. It was so fun! They had a few scavenger hunts, two kahoot trivias, crafts, and more. It was so much fun!! We had a great showing of families and the kids had a blast. It was great to see my media colleagues, too!

Jeff had to work on Friday night, Jack volunteered at the concession stand for the lower school program, and Luke went to swim practice while I was at the library. We all met up at home and stayed up pretty late.

Saturday was a bit of a slower morning, but it felt so good to wake up to sunshine coming through our skylight in the bathroom. I got a few things done around the house before we headed out to Luke’s soccer game. What a difference six days can make!

Jack was at the golf course and met us for lunch on the way home. I went back out for another walk and then sat on the driveway and read The Heir Apparent while the boys played basketball. I couldn’t make myself go inside.

I did wash five pairs of sneakers on Saturday. My friend Shannon has the same sneakers as me and she washed hers with Oxyclean last week. They were literally sparkling white afterwards. I was inspired to give it a try with mine. I used Dawn PowerWash on the toes first and then threw some Oxyclean in the wash with the detergent. They aren’t perfect, but they look so much better!

I had a dentist appointment on Thursday and talked to her about my teeth moving. I forgot to bring my retainers to show her how they fit, but she suggested wearing them for 48 hours straight and then going back to nights if I can tolerate it. I wore these things all weekend when I wasn’t out in public. They aren’t a perfect fit yet so I was way to slurpy to wear them in public. I will say wearing retainers definitley helped keep me from snacking all weekend. My mouth is sore, but the retainers aren’t as tight as they were on Saturday morning. I’m heading back to the dentist tomorrow with my retainers to see how it is going. These are my retainers from high school friends! I wore them almost every night from the time I got my braces off at 15 until I had Luke at 31. 16 years of retainers and my teeth still have the gumption to move around in there. Rude!

This case has been around for 30 years!!!

Jack hung out with friends on Saturday night. Jeff and Luke watched a Batman movie that I had no desire to see. So I parked myself in the library and read for a while. It was so relaxing!

I woke up Sunday morning with a little stress. I did NOTHING on my to do list Saturday so I was going to be busy. I had a meeting for our summer swim league at 8:30 with two of my friends. It was early, but fun. We walked away with a great schedule for this summer!

When I got home, Luke and Jeff were working at the kitchen table and I joined them. I had quite a list to tackle – pool membership stuff, returns to request and pack, grocery pickup to set, packing lists to make – and I got a lot done. Luke and I went out for a walk in the afternoon and I read a bit. After working for a while, Luke built some Legos and Jeff watched some golf. I decided to sit with Jeff for a bit.

We had pizza for dinner. I picked up pizza dough at Trader Joe’s on Friday. The gluten free was good and so was the garlic herb pizza dough. It was an easy Sunday dinner and we all sat down to eat together.

After dinner was cleaned up, we all got ready for the week. This is going to be a busy week again but it is full of good stuff! Swimming, golf, pool meetings, and it endes with forecasted temperatures in the 70s! If you blogged today, be sure to link up with us below. Have a great day full of sunshine and books!!

I can relate to the sun making you feel like a new person! I think I got in about 4 hours on Saturday. Sunday was cold. Today it is snowing – wah…

What a great weekend! I was outside a lot on Saturday, and I agree about how wonderful that sunshine felt. I’m sorry you woke up with a bit of stress on Sunday; hopefully the things you got accomplished took care of that. I don’t love waking up with something weighing on me. I woke up with that feeling this morning over a text I need to send to someone. Anyway…here’s to a great new week with lots of glorious weather!

I so agree about the sun. I sat outside and read on Sunday and it was such a boost. I had all the orthodontics as a kid/teen but my teeth moved as an adult and in my late 40’s I did Invisilign on both top and bottom. I only had to wear them a few months because apparently teeth have memory so they knew what to do . After I finished with those I had a permanent retainer put on the inside of my bottom teeth and it has done the trick. I forget it’s there and everything has stayed put. You can’t see the retainer and when it first went in I touched it a lot with my tongue but you get used to it and it’s not an issue anymore. I’ve had it now for almost twenty years and it’s never needed replacing. Dental issues are so annoying. Hope you get lots of sunny skies this week!

We have had quite a bit of sunshine here too and it has been lovely! The book event sounds wonderful and what a difference in the weather at the soccer game. I hope the dentist appointment goes well.

We had a bit of snow on Sunday but just a dusting! So sorry to hear about your teeth shifting.. but it’s good to know. Alec is on his second set of retainers as his teeth started shifting again too and we couldn’t find his old ones.

Sunshine is always a mood booster for sure. I was doing so good wearing my retainers but have fallen out of the habit, so I need to get back to it. The book club sounds like such a special event! What book did you all read?
