Hello Monday – 2/9/26

Happy Monday! I’m starting the week with Holly and all of you! I hope you’ll link up with us for Hello Monday!

The theme of this weekend was cold and sports. That’s all we did. It was cold and I watched sports all weekend long. I hope you are ready for Olympic content for the next 2 weeks because that is how I am spending my time. My phone home screen has my two most used apps ready to go – Peacock and Olympics!

We had a surprise early dismissal on Friday because they were predicting snow squalls towards the end of our district’s dismissal window. I was absolutely THRILLED!! I got to watch the opening ceremony live at 2 pm and then again at 8 pm. Then it was off to bed for me around 11.

Coverage on Peacock started early on Saturday, but I decided not to set an alarm because I had plenty of time to watch/catch up during the day. We watched everything for a little while. Peacock coverage was great. We watched the multiview a bit, too.

We had to leave for swim meet warmups around 1:30. We got there and situated for warmups. Then on his first practice dive, Jack hit his head. YIKES!! He was ok, but our team’s policy is you cannot swim if you hit your head. He passed the concussion protocol, but I was concerned about his neck and back, too. He stayed on deck with the coaches and his friends while Luke swam. Luke swam really well on Saturday with three best times! Jack seemed fine with no pain when it was time to go, but we still took him to get checked out on Saturday evening. He got the all clear, thank goodness!

I got a great seat on the bleachers! Perfect for cheering and plenty of room.

I watched some more Olympics while the guys watched some college basketball and played cards. I read a little while I was watching because I’d seen much of the coverage earlier. It was fun to see some of the human interest stories though. I’m loving Barbara and Nancy, the moms of the US ice dancing duo.

I did set an alarm on Sunday because I knew I wouldn’t be able to watch the evening coverage with the Super Bowl. Oh dear, I woke up to the news that Lindsey Vonn crashed at the beginning of her run. I’m glad she’s going to be ok, but what a terrible crash and injury! Hooray for Breezy Johnson winning our first 2026 Olympic medal!! What a run!

We left around 10:30 for swim warmups on Sunday. I got settled and watched warmups like a nervous mom. Jack swam and did a few dives and felt good. Shew!! The boys had a great day of swimming with 2 best times each. Great meet buddies!!

Same seat for day 2!
Go Jack!
Go Luke!

I made Jack stop for a quick selfie even though the real feel was in the single digits. This is his last meet of the winter season because golf starts next week (if the snow ever melts). He’s excited and so am I!

We came home and watched more Olympics while I started thinking about the week. As is our tradition, Jeff made wings for Super Bowl dinner. This year he made Old Bay, ranch, Trader Joe’s citrus garlic, Trader Joe’s chili lime, Jeff’s special mix, and BBQ wings. They were delicious!

Luke finished up a little homework and we watched the Super Bowl together Sunday evening. I’m finishing this before the game is over, but I am enjoying the commercials and the football. I can’t wait for the halftime show!

I have a bit of a busy week at work and at home. I am not sure why I committed to doing things when the Olympics are happening. What was I thinking?!? Are you watching the Olympics? I am so proud of our athletes! If you blogged today, be sure to link up with us below. Have a great day full of Olympics, sunshine, and books!

Always think of you during the Olympics. We watched the opening ceremonies an caught some news coverage of the events- feel so bad for Lindsay Vaughn. Will try to catch more this week- you have me intrigued with the moms of the ice dancing duo. So glad Jack is ok.

Same – cold and sports! What a bonus you got off early on Friday! Woohoo! I still have to catch up on the opening ceremony – what I saw was so beautiful!

So glad that Jack was ok! That is scary. We’ve had Olympics on non-stop too. Seeing the app on your phone reminded me to download! Love your Olympic decorations. So fun!

Glad Jack was okay! I can’t imaging golf starting next week… we have two more snowstorms in the forecast. I hope the snow clears in time for his season.

I watched a lot of the Olympics too over the weekend, I am loving it!
Oh gosh! What a scare about Jack hitting his head. I am glad he is OK.
It sounds like you had a good weekend!

I love how much you love the Olympics! I’ll watch them if they are on, but wouldn’t think to turn them on.
Scary about hitting your head diving in – I guess every sport has it’s risks. Glad all is o.k. Even thinking about golf with all that snow around is funny. Have a great week – thanks for the link-up 🙂
