Hello Monday – 10/20/25

Happy Monday! I’m starting the week with Holly and all of you! I hope you’ll link up with us for Hello Monday!

I did not mean to take the week off from blogging, but our evenings have been pretty busy. If I had my act together, I would write a few posts on the weekends. However, that thought never occurs to me until Sunday evening when I sit down to write this post. Oh well…

We had a great week followed by a great weekend! Jack has been doing a great job driving. I passed him on the road the other day and it was quite a feeling. He didn’t notice me which is great and I got to see him being a safe driver which is also great!

A fellow school librarian made her way into my social media algorithm and I noticed that she displays her book stats for the students to see. I decided to give it a shot this week. Kids and teachers are amazed/horrified at the number of overdue and lost books when they see it. I hope it makes a difference! They are also pretty amazed at how many books have been checked out this year. It’s great!

We got flocked at school. The local high school drama club flocks people for a fundraiser and our school got flocked! The sunrise was gorgeous on our flocking day!

We had conferences on Thursday evening. Special areas teachers have to stay for conferences because we are teachers, too, but we don’t usually have many conferences. We sign up to man the door to make sure parents know where they’re going. I always sign up for the first shift so I can sit outside in the sunshine and read.

Luke and I went to our local high school’s soccer games this week. There are two high schools in our town and they were playing each other. It was fun because he has friends on both teams. I sat with my friend Jodi and it was fun to watch soccer with her again. Our boys played on the same soccer teams for six years and we’ve watched a lot of soccer together!

Luke had two soccer games last week. One was in the freezing cold, misty rain. The other was on a beautiful, breezy day full of sunshine! My parents and Jodi came to the lovely weather game, smart fans. They played well and it was fun to watch! I can’t believe he only has three games left this season.

I went to the mall on Saturday morning. I haven’t been to a mall in a long time. I wanted to try on a Lilly dress because the reviews were all over the place about sizing. I am glad I went because they started the sale in store and I got a great deal. I came home with two dresses, but there is a third I am keeping my eye on!

When I got home from the mall, the farmers were harvesting our corn. I love when they do this! It’s loud and dusty, but it is so nice to have our view back.

Every time I looked outside, I sang “Wide Open Spaces” in my head.

We went to Jeff’s parents on Saturday evening. We popped by our nephew’s soccer game on the way. It was fun to see him on the field! Dinner was great. I realized this was the first time we’ve all been together since mid-June. Jeff’s mom brought out boxes of photos for Jeff and his siblings. It was fun to look through the pictues and the kids thought they were pretty funny. The weather was pretty lovely so I squeezed in another skort day this year.

On Sunday, I went to the pool for an hour or so to do some end of season cleaning up. The weather was beautiful and it was perfect to be at the pool. I visit the pool periodically to make sure everything is ok, so I’ll be back in a few weeks but it won’t look like this.

Well, I hope to see you here again before next Monday, but who knows what will happen. I hope you’ll check back. If you blogged today, please link up with us below! Have a great day full of sunshine and books!

I am a real stats nerd so I love seeing your sign! Some weeks are like that and I’m glad you had a good weekend to be ready to head into this week!

Good job to Jack with the driving, it does sound like he is being really sensible and a safe driver!
That is pretty shocking about the overdue and lost books but the flocking looks like fun!
I love watching the farmers harvesting their crops. We have a field behind our house where they harvest every year. They usually put it in the local FB group, to give a warning when they are at work because of all the dust.

Our pool season is over –we had our first frost this week!
I am probably your in-laws age–I made sure to give my children all their photo albums after we scanned all their photos and uploaded them to the cloud. That was a big job, but we were happy to have it done, as we live in a wildfire interface area and the only thing I’d be sad about losing in a wildfire would be photographs. and some other mementos. Have a good week!

That’s a lot of lost books lol. I get the overdue, but lost? I wonder how many turn up eventually? I haven’t been in a mall in a long while either. I picture ours as deserted, but maybe I’m wrong. I saw recently four new stores are going in so it can’t be all bad. Good for you finding a deal on dresses! Have a nice week!

I thought it was a lot too, so I did some digging into the records and stats. Luckily we were able to take it down to 28 after removing the books that had been paid for. It’s still a lot though. It was nice to shop in person and made me miss those fun mall days in the 90s!
