Happy Wednesday! Happy October! I am joining Joyce for a quick hodgepodge of questions. These five questions are going to be fun, so let’s get to it!

1. What’s your favorite fall scent? Would we find this in or around your home right now? My favorite fall scent is apple. I do not love pumpkin anything. Currently, I am hanging on to my summer scents because the weather is holding on to that summer feeling.
2. October is Country Music Month…are you a fan of country music? Do you have a favorite country artist? Ever been to Nashville? In terms of lifestyle are you more country mouse or city mouse? I am a fan of country music. I don’t have a favorite country artist, but I like most country music. When I was little, my dad would play country music all the time and my sister and I would be horrified. I remember saying something like Dad, don’t you think the speakers hate this too? Ha ha. I have only flown through the Nashville airport. I loved the live music in the airport and would love to visit. I am not sure what kind of mouse I am. I think I am a suburb mouse.
3. How about ‘country cooking’? (loosely defined as rich flavors, familiar foods, large portions, often fried, and often associated with the southern region of the US of A)? Nope! I am not a country cooking kind of girl.
chicken and dumplings-fried chicken-shrimp and grits-biscuits and gravy-mac and cheese-fried green tomatoes-cornbread-collard or turnip greens-deviled eggs-‘barbecue’-gumbo-banana pudding
Which of the foods listed is your favorite? Any on the list you haven’t tried or would say a firm no thank you to if offered? My favorite is deviled eggs. I love them so much and eat leftovers for breakfast! On that list, I would eat mac and cheese, fried green tomatoes, and gumbo.
4. What’s something that always has a positive impact on your mood? I am always happier when I am outside, when I exercise, when I am with someone who I can talk to, and when I am on the beach. I find it impossible to be in a bad mood on the beach.

5. As we say so long to September share a noun, a verb, and an adjective that tells us something about how that month looked for you.
Noun: van – I spent a lot of time in my van this month picking the boys up from school, driving with Jack, heading to the beach, and running errands.
Verb: ask – With both boys starting at a new school and Jeff working at a new school, I have asked a lot of questions about how things work and what everyone is doing after school. I’ve also had to ask my parents for help a few times to help manage all the driving (see above 😉)
Adjective: warm – The summer temperatures are hanging on and I am loving it. I’ve been able to spend a lot of time outside this month. It hasn’t been super humid like it was this summer, but pleasantly warm. The ocean was also warm enough to get in when we were there!
6. Insert your own random thought here. I am joining Jenn for Currently today, so those are my random thoughts. I couldn’t find her prompts, so I made up my own today. Keep reading!

I am loving… all this summer weather hanging around! I have been so happy to wear my dresses, shorts, and tank tops in September. I’ve been soaking up all the sunshine, too!

I am drinking… from a fun Swig tumbler. My mother-in-law has gotten me a fall or Halloween Swig for my birthday the past two years and I love it!

I am thinking… that I would probably feel my best if I consistently included strenght training in my exercise routines.
I am hoping… I can start getting to sleep a little earlier. I have been getting in bed before 10, but I’m not getting to sleep before 10:30 most nights. As I write this on Tuesday night, it’s 8:15 and I am finishing up so I can go to bed!
I am buying… different groceries. Jeff, Jack, and Luke all get lunch at school everyday. It’s included in tuition and there’s a wide variety available. It’s kind of like a dining hall in college, honestly. The lunches seem to be quite filling so they aren’t eating many snacks at home. I am the only one taking leftovers for lunch, so the portions I am preparing and the types of food I am buying are just different.
That was fun! I can’t wait to see what everyone else answered! Have a great day full of sunshine and books!

I love that your noun was “van”. I still miss my white Dodge Caravan that I had for 11 years! Those were great family years!
Apples and cinnamon beat pumpkin any day!
Ohh! I forgot about apple, I do like that at this time of year.
I think I would be a happier person if I could get to the beach more!
I love your summer outfits, especially that orange cardigan and the tumbler is so cute!
I am holding onto the warm weather too my friend! You are so right about never being in a bad mood on the beach. Can we talk about how cute your new SWIG is? I think I need it in my life 😉
I love just about any scent with cinnamon this time of year– be it apple or pumpkin or pecan (really anything mixed with cinnamon or cinnamon by itself too). I am not a country cooking kind of person either. In fact out of all those foods listed I’d say I don’t like any of them! I’ll eat most of them if someone serves it but I’d never order them at a restaurant or make them myself. I do make mac and cheese but I pretty much never eat it. I bet that feels great to have to buy less groceries!
I, too, love being outside! Who couldn’t be happy at the beach????? It is still warm here in Virginia.
My grocery shopping has changed a lot since we are empty nesters now. Many times my husband eats a big lunch at the work cafeteria, so then my dinner doesn’t have to be very substantial. I also love apple scents.
Well we went to an apple orchard today up in the mountains so I’m feeling a bit more fallish. Even though it was shorts weather : ) I find most of the pumpkin scented candles are too strong for me. I love the new swig! Enjoy the rest of your week!
Love your noun/verb/adjective choices! (Good) lunch provided at school is amazing. Our neighbors go to private school in town and they have a chef with great meals. What an experience. Being outside is a great mood booster for sure.
