Friday Favorites – 9/12/25

Happy Friday! We made it through a full five day week and I am so happy it’s Friday! I teach almost half the school on Fridays so I will be really happy at 2:15 this afternoon. I have a bunch of favorites from the week, so let’s get to it!

Linking up with Erika and Andrea

Favorite 1: TIME! While my afternoon commute going from 3 minutes to 75 minutes is not a favorite, I do enjoy the time I am getting with Jack in the car. When I am driving, he chills for a few minutes and then starts mentioning things about his day. When he is driving, he is pretty chatty right away. I am enjoying both!

Favorite 2: TEACHER CLOTHES! I am loving getting dressed this week. My outfits have been comfy and I think they look pretty good. On Monday, I wore an older J.Crew factory dress (see Dad’s birthday picture). On Tuesday, I wore the skort from an Amazon set with a white tee and sneakers. On Wednesday, we wore yellow for suicide prevention awareness and it was chilly so I wore jeans. On Thursday, I wore an old Loft dress with some orange and my Crocs sandals.

Favorite 3: BIRTHDAYS! We kicked off fall birthday season on Monday with my dad’s birthday. I always take a picture of him with the boys on his birthday. We got a good laugh this year as the boys are getting taller.

Favorite 4: SUNSHINE! I have been walking outside a bunch this week. I forgot my weighted vest on Thursday afternoon when I took Jack to the golf course so I decided to try a little running. I ran equal intervals for a little over two miles and felt pretty great. I did have to change course at one point when I saw this guy in my path.

Speaking of weighted vests, have you seen Dustin Anderson on Instagram? This video made me laugh!

Favorite 5: MOM! Jeff had an appointment and the boys needed a ride to school on Thursday. My mom jumped at the opportunity to set an alarm and get up early! 😉 She also hemmed some pants for us this week. Thanks so much Mom!!

Favorite 6: BOOKS! My mom and I had a good giggle over text when I sent her the cover of a book I was reading. I told her it was my biography! Haha! We laughed because I perpetually have “just one question” and always have! It’s not really about someone who always asks a ton of questions, but it is a great book and I am excited to read it to a few classes.

How about this for a series that kids love? We have 47 books in this series in our school library. After four days of checkout, these are all that are left. That is the sign of a tried and true favorite!

I finished The Academy. It comes out Tuesday and I absolutly loved it! It was a great back to school book and so so fun! If you like boarding school books, you might also like Jenny Colgan’s School by the Sea series. I sure did.

I just started a book written by the parent of one of my former kindergarten students and it is so good! It came out this summer, but I think it is a great back to school book too!

Favorite 7: GAMES! Luke didn’t have too much homework one night this week so instead of watching tv or scrolling our phones, we played a game. Racko is one of my favorite games. It is quick and involves strategy, but not too much thinking. We had a great time playing and Jack joined us for a few rounds, too.

Favorite 8: PELOTON! I completed the 100 days Peloton streak challenge this week and had my 300th strength workout on the same day. I am doing Rebecca Kennedy’s Express workout but I am taking a break in between days to better fit my schedule. I like it!

Favorite 9: CRABS!! We had our pool crab feast last weekend and it was so fun! The crowd was good and so were the crabs! September crabs are usually delicious and they did not disappoint!

Way to throw a great final social event Darla!

Favorite 10: ORIENTATION! While I wasn’t so excited to go to freshman parent orientation on a Sunday afternoon, I ended up enjoying it. We met some new people, learned a lot about teenagers, and Luke got to hang with some other freshman.

I am excited for today! Luke has his first high school soccer game. Then we are all going to meet up at the high school football game. The guys’ current school is playing the school Jeff worked at for 25 years and attended and Jack attended for two years. We are finally doing Luke’s birthday experience on Saturday. On Sunday the boys have a swim team meeting but I plan to spend some time finishing up things at the pool and maybe reading poolside if the weather allows. Have a great weekend full of sunshine and books!

Sounds like a wonderful week and great weekend to look forward too. Those books are very popular at the library where I volunteer!
