Monthly Musings – 7/31/25

Happy Thursday! It’s the last Thursday of the month so I am linking up with Holly and Patty to answer 10 fun seasonal questions. I love thinking about my answers and seeing everyone else’s answers, too!

This month we are talking about SUMMER!!

1. Favorite thing about summer 2025…

I really enjoyed coaching swim team. I love that our swim meets are family events. My parents came to quite a few meets. Jeff’s parents came to a meet. The boys had some big swim successes this summer. I got to coach with Jack.

2. Favorite thing you ate this summer?

Steamed crabs are always a favorite! I also drank a few southsides this summer and loved those!

3. Did you see any summer movies (streaming or theater)?

We watched Happy Gilmore 2 this week and it was great! I watched Mamma Mia the other day and that’s a summer movie to me. I’d love to watch Back to the Beach before summer is over.

4. What books did you read this summer?

I shared my July books on Tuesday. Here are my June books. I am hoping to read quite a few books on my Summer Beach Reads list in August!

5. Ready for fall or hold onto summer?

Hold on to summer. Always and forever! I’d like to hold on to it for a few more months, but the weather won’t go for that. We still have 4 weeks of summer left and I am ready for them! I start to panic when my friends in the south start talking about heading back to school already. I have to remind myself that they’ve got out of school about a month before us so they are going back about a month before us, too.

6. What is different about your summer schedule than the rest of the year?

My alarm doesn’t go off in the 5 o’clock hour. We are outside for most of the day. We have dinner when we get home from the pool. Bedtimes are a little later. My wardrobe tends to be pjs-exercise clothes-bathing suit-pjs. There is a lot more variation in my summer schedule because of Jack’s work schedule, the weather, and what we feel like doing.

7. How do you take a break/relax in the summer?

I go to the pool and read or talk to friends.

I also go for a hard walk when I need a break. It may not sound relaxing, but it does help me clear my head.

8. Any trips still on the calendar for the rest of summer?

Nope. We didn’t plan any trips this summer. It felt a little weird, but it is working out just fine.

9. Any summer concerts this year?

No. I had two (Micheal Franti and the Wheeland Brothers) in my plans, but it did not work out. Luckily I didn’t buy tickets for either, so I didn’t lose out on that.

10. When does summer end in your world?

Well, we go back to school on August 25th, but I agree with Elin Hilderbrand that September is still summer! According to Lilly…

and I agree!

That was fun! Enjoy your summer day! Have a great day full of sunshine and books!
