Happy Tuesday! As I type this on Monday night, I am watching Jeff and Luke play poker while Jack is taking driver’s ed in his room. Summer time here we come! We had a great weekend and I am recapping today. Like always, I am sharing EIGHT GREAT things.

1-We started Friday and summer off with a pool party. It was the last day of school and we had a food truck and the foam machine was running. It was hot and humid so the pool was packed! Jack was working and Jeff and Luke went over a little early to get a seat. It started raining while I was waiting for dinner from the truck so we headed home to eat our dinner. Jack worked until the pool closed but said it cleared out after we left.

2-I headed to bed pretty early Friday because we had time trials, our practice swim meet, early on Saturday morning. I wanted to be there pretty early so we left a little before 7. My friend Kelly is one of the team reps and we were pretty excited to show up twinning.

Jeff and her husband held down the fort under the tents. Usually Jeff times, but he didn’t have to this meet. He was the best coach’s husband around, making sure I had everything I needed and could give my attention to all the swimmers. He also helped answer questions that new swimmers and parents might have.

I’ve coached for years but haven’t ever been the head coach of a big team like this one. I was pretty nervous and wanted all the swimmers and families to have a good experience. We have over 100 swimmers so that is a lot of people to think about. I have eight great junior coaches and four of them were at the meet. It went really well and I think everyone had a good experience.

3-The weather wasn’t so great on Saturday so we stayed home after the meet. I got caught up on some pool work and some swim team stuff. I started to make a grocery list and wrap my head around the week. The afternoon flew by but I felt pretty productive.

4-We went to my parents on Saturday night to celebrate my dad for Father’s Day. My mom got crabs and they were so big and full. They were delicious! We picked up our favorite Hoffman’s ice cream on the way. Eating crabs doesn’t feel complete until I have a little Hoffman’s mint chocolate chip ice cream. We had a great time talking and hanging out all evening. The weather cleared enough that we could eat outside – woohoo!

5-Sunday was Father’s Day and I made a big breakfast for Jeff and the boys. Sunday seems to be the day that we are home for breakfast lately and I am enjoying having a hot sit down breakfast together.

6-Jack had to work from 12-9 on Sunday and the weather was TERRIBLE! It was cold and raining or misty all day. Jeff went to the gym and the pool before assuming the Father’s Day position – watching the U.S. Open on the couch.

7-Luke and I went to the track for a run when we thought it wasn’t raining. It wasn’t raining, but it was heavy misting. That didn’t deter us and he ran a few miles while I walked and ran. Luke was pain free in his hip and knee and that was the greatest!

8-Luckily they closed the pool early so Jack could go to Jeff’s parents’ house with us for Father’s Day.

We had a delicious dinner and hung out until the golf was over. Did you watch? What a putt to end the tournament from J.J. Spaun!! We were reminiscing about how much fun we had at the U.S. Open last year on Father’s Day! What a blast!

Bonus 9-It was cold (low 60s) and rained all day on Monday and we canceled swim practices. That meant I got to stay at work and get all but one of my summer hours done. The kids had a friend over in the morning and then Jack worked (brr) and Luke went to indoor swim practice.

That means today is my first day of summer! I am working early and then heading to the pool for swim practice. Jack and Luke are playing golf with my dad and his friends today. This is going to be a great day for everyone. Summer Sarah will likely be here by the time you read this. Everyone get ready!! Let the fun begin! Have a great day full of sunshine and books!
