Happy Friday! Happy last day of February! January felt like it was 4700 days long. February was only 28 days but it also felt pretty long with cold weather and less than favorable events. You know I try to stay positive, so I do have some favorites for you today.

Favorite 1: LAUGHING LUKE!! As I sit here typing this post, Luke is laughing so hard. We were looking for an easy show to watch while home this week and I picked Home Improvement on Netflix. We started with season 1, episode 1 and we have been laughing a lot.
Favorite 2: JOHNS HOPKINS!! Luke had surgery to remove a thyroglossal duct cyst on Monday and he had to spend one night. The surgery was planned but it ended up being a little more involved that we thought it would be. Every single person we encountered in our 36 hours at the hospital was so incredible. The nurses took such great care of Luke and made sure he was as comfortable as possible. Mac and cheese at 5 am? No problem. Ice cream at 6 am? You got it. Lunch taking a little longer than expected? They’ll send another quickly. Once they made sure Luke was ok, they asked after Jeff and I. They made sure we we had everything we needed to take care of Luke. Johns Hopkins is an incredible hospital that is saving lives every day and I am so grateful that it is right in our backyard.

My visitors badge from the hospital did give me a little giggle. Luke was listed as my host and I’ve decided that we need to work on some hosting skills. Starting with picking a good location to host people…

Favorite 3: INFANTS AND TODDLERS!! When the called me about Luke’s surgery, the nurse said that we might stay on the recovery floor overnight. Well, they ended up putting him in a regular room and the room available was on the infants and toddlers floor. He was the biggest patient on floor by far. Once his pain was under control, we did get a few giggles from the things in the room. The extra socks were big enough for a two year old. The safety information was about putting your baby to sleep on their back and how to keep them safe in the crib. All of that is very important, but not for a 13 year old. The nurses were so sweet and enjoyed having a teenager even though he was much, much bigger than their usual patients. Our room did have a great view!

Favorite 4: RODEO! I picked this shirt to wear at the hospital. It is from a shirt exchange I did with some girlfriends a few years ago. Having a kid get surgery and spend the night in the hospital was definitely my first rodeo!

Favorite 5: GOLF!! While Luke was in surgery, Jack had golf tryouts. He did a great job and made the golf team again this year. He’s looking forward to a great season of playing golf almost every single day. I am looking forward to seeing him play the game he loves the most!
Favorite 6: SPARTINA!! My mom gave me this toiletry bag for Christmas and it was perfect for Luke and I to use for our overnight stay. I love the print, too!

Favorite 7: MARGARITA! I love our Mexican restaurant! The food is delicious, the drinks are delicious, and the staff are wonderful! After a very rough two weeks, I decided that Jeff and I were going to Los Aztecas and I was getting the BIG margarita! Jeff and I had a great time together and it was a good reminder that we can go out together more often!

Favorite 8: SUNSHINE! Oh my goodness, the weather this week was incredible. The sun was shining and it was a little warmer. I’ve seen it called the spring of deception online because cooler weather will definitely be back in the next week or so. Luke and I got outside for a short walk and it felt so good! I spent some time on our deck while Luke as resting on the couch.

Favorite 9: NIGHT SKY! The planets are supposed to be aligned in a parade tonight but we were able to see a few last night. I use the SkyView Lite app and helped us identify the planets we could see. Our deck faces southwest with very few lights around so it is a perfect view.

Hello Monday
Reading Update
Monthly Musings
Luke and I will be hanging out on the couch and taking short walks in our neighborhood today. We are also both going to be tackling a little schoolwork. This weekend is pretty open and I am hoping to finish the online class I am working on. I need to get my ducks in a row for next week because I’ll be working a full five day week with no snow in the forecast! Have a great weekend full of sunshine and books!

I’m glad Luke is doing well! Enjoy the beautiful weather.
It sounds like a lot of fun watching Home Improvement. I am glad everything went well with Luke’s surgery. Him staying on the infants and toddlers floor did make me chuckle. It sounds like the big margarita was very well deserved!
I have an alarm set on my phone to remind me to go out and look at the sky tonight. We have the perfect view too with just fields underneath.
Aw, we watched the entire Home Improvement series with our boys several years ago and they all loved it too. I am so glad his surgery went well and you were all taken such good care of.
I’m glad all is well with Luke. Congrats to Jack on the golf team too!
Thank you! It was quite a week of ups and downs with some worries thrown in there. Thankfully, we’ve made it through to the other side.
