Reading Lately – 2/25/25

Happy Tuesday! It’s almost the end of the month, so I am sharing the books I read this month and what I am currently reading. I am linking up with the Share Your Shelf ladies – Joanne, Marilyn, Tanya, and Jenn – so be sure to check them out on the first Thursday of the month for other great bookish posts.

Practice Makes Perfect by Sarah Adams ☀️☀️☀️☀️☀️

I really need to start writing my thoughts down as soon as I finish a book. This was a perfect, light and fun rom com book, especially in February! I love Sarah Adams’ books and this did not disappoint. It was fun to go back to Rome in the book. I loved Annie and thought her story was great! I’m anxiously awaiting book 3 in the series from my library.

Poached by Stuart Gibbs (audio)

This is the second book in the FunJungle series and Luke and I enjoyed it. Teddy gets himself in trouble at the zoo/amusement park again. This time a koala has gone missing and the only suspect is Teddy. Just like in Belly Up, Teddy has to solve the mystery and clear his name. It is funny and a little suspenseful, but my 13 year old and I loved listening to it. When we finished this book, Luke wanted to read the next one right away, but I persuaded him to go back to Spy School, another Stuart Gibbs series, so we could finish that one.

Brooke Sheilds Is Not Allowed to Get Old: Thoughts on Aging as a Woman by Brooke Sheilds ☀️☀️☀️☀️

I’ve heard mixed reviews about this book, but I quite enjoyed it. I felt like I was talking to a big sister, older cousin, or friend that was a little bit older than me. Brooke is 15 years older than me and I appreciated her viewpoint in many places. Did I think I’d hear about her new haircare business as much as we did, not really, but I was paying attention for the lessons she learned and appreciated it for that. My kids are a bit younger than hers and I liked hearing her perspective on raising adults. It was a quick read for me and I’m glad I read it.

The Women by Kristin Hannah ☀️☀️☀️☀️☀️

I have heard nothing but great things about this book and it did not disappoint. Like most Kristin Hannah books, it was a hard read, but it was totally worth it. I loved it! It was so interesting to see the war from a woman’s point of view. It was also really hard to read how our country treated the soldiers when they came home. Wow! I’ve heard about the treatment of the Vietnam veterans but to read a fictional first-hand account was hard. Even though her path to healing was so very hard, I was proud of Frankie for finding her way. We live so close to DC and I could see her visit to the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in my mind. Wow! I saved this book to read in the winter, and I am so glad I read it when I did.

Fenway and Hattie by Victoria J. Coe

This is such a cute book. It is the book I picked for our school-wide book club. Our PTA purchases a copy for each family in our school and we all read it together. It was a great book for elementary school aged kids as a family read aloud!

Currently Reading: The 5 Second Rule by Mel Robbins

Yes, I am still reading a book about procrastination a whole month later. The irony is not lost on me. I am hoping to finish it pretty soon. I am really enjoying/learning from the book, but my mind hasn’t been in the right place to read it lately.

Currently Reading: Meet Me at the Cupcake Cafe by Jenny Colgan

Currently Listening: Spy School Goes Wild by Stuart Gibbs

You can always checkout what I’ve been reading on my Books 2025 page. I have all of my yearly reading pages linked here if you want to see what I’ve been reading for the last 6 years.

I am looking forward to a good reading month in March! I have a few books on hold that should become available at the public library and a few on my kindle that I am excited to read. What have you been reading this month? Have a great day full of sunshine and books!

Yea for the Women…such a good book! I probably won’t read the Brooke Shields book, but I really enjoyed the documentary about her recently. I think it was called Pretty Baby. Hope you’re having a great week!
