Friday Favorites – 2/7/25

Happy Friday! This has been a busy but good week. I have some favorites to share with you, so let’s get to it.

Linking up with Erika and Andrea

Favorite 1: ICE ICE BABY!! We had a good bit of ice overnight Wednesday into Thursday and Luke and I got a snow (ice) day. Jeff’s and Jack’s school are in a different county that didn’t get much ice at all so they had a regular day of school. Luke and I had a great day. We watched some television, played games, played with friends (Luke), read (me), and did some school work. It was lovely!

The entire back of our house was covered in ice.

Favorite 2: HURKLE-DURKLE!! Have you seen the term hurkle-durkle going around on the internet? I am sure that 200 years ago the Scottish did not hurkle-durkle while watching tv and playing on their phones, but that seems to be our modern interpretation and it felt good on our ice day.

I added some eye patches to make it a productive hurkle-durkle.

Favorite 3: BOOK FAIR! I spent a good bit of time after school on Wednesday setting up the book fair in anticipation of this ice day. Today is our first day of previewing when the students walk around and find a few titles they’d like to add to a wish list. It is a fun few days, but it also means I have to say the same thing 22 times over the course of those days to very excited children.

Favorite 4: NAILS!! With the book fair here, I always like my nails to look nice with so many parents in the media center. I picked out Prom from my Olive & June gel collection and I am so happy with my choice. I am getting better at the gel appplication process each time. This pink is bright and cheery, perfect for book fair and Valentine’s Day!

Favorite 5: BOOKS & LIBBY! Libby and my library are coming through for me fast and furious this week. My holds for three books came up and I took all three. I finished one and just started Brooke Sheilds’ new book. I am about 15% of the way in and it feels like I am talking to a big sister or cousin right now. I am looking forward to finishing it this weekend at the boys’ swim meet. Then I have The Women to start. I waited to read it until winter and am really looking forward to it.

Hello Monday
Currently & Hodgepodge

I am looking forward to the Super Bowl this weekend. Jeff’s making wings and we’ll have some dips to go along with it. The boys have a three day swim meet so I’ll be in the stands for a bit of the weekend. I finally made an appointment to give blood, so I am focusing on drinking a ton of water today. Have a great weekend full of sunshine and books!

Evan had Thursday off from his college classes because of the storm and he was thrilled! I think winter is the perfect time to hurkle-durkle and I’ve been laying in bed late most days reading.

The library looks great! We have so many great book fair elementary years memories. Love the nail choice. Perfect for February. I feel like my Libby books always arrive at the same time too! I’m on hold for the Brooke Shields audio book . Can’t wait. Have a great weekend!

How lovely to have a snow day with Luke!
I have heard of the phrase hurkle-durkle and love the meaning of it.
I used to love the book fairs at school and when my girls were at school. I hope yours goes well.
