Happy Wednesday! It’s the first Wednesday of the month and I am linking up with Jennifer to share five things I am currently doing. Each month we share five different things and I think it’s a fun way to think about what’s going on.

I am loving…
having very sore muscles! I did Jess Sims’ 3 day split on the Peloton app last week and I am doing it again this week. Everything hurts. I am sore. I know that means I am getting stronger and I love that!

how excited Jack was to hang out with my dad last night. They went to a Captials game. It is Jack’s first NHL game and he was excited to go with my hockey fan dad!

I am anticipating…
the arrival of our book fair. It should be here today and I am excited to take a look at it. We’ve never had a book fair in the spring and I’m wondering if anything will be different.

the weather forecast for the next few weeks. I have a bunch of parent volunteers coming in to help with book fair wish lists and previewing, we have an author coming next week, and we have a family shopping evening planned at the book fair in the next few weeks. Mother Nature is making me a little nervous with her forecasted ice and snow! ❄️
I am remembering…
Just how hard day one of Jess Simms’ three day split is. Ha! My arms are shaking as I type this.
how cute the boys were when they would wear holiday shirts.

I am sharing…
How about this – I am NOT sharing anything with the kids at school. Not my pencils, my computer mouse, my pointers, nothing! There are so many germs going around school right now and I am doing my best to avoid the fever, flu, strep, cold, cough extravaganza!
the electric blanket with Luke while we watch a little tv.

I am wish-listing…
all the new Swigs! Have you seen them?? I have resisted the Valentine’s Day prints, but the St. Patrick’s Day and Easter Swigs are so cute. They also released a pencil/teacher cup! I love my Swigs!
so many books! I am starting to look at all the summer beach reads coming out this year and getting so excited! I am also putting some books on my libby holds list! Gosh, there is never enough time to read all the books I want to read. It’s a problem, but a really great problem.

I am also linking up with Joyce today for the Wednesday Hodgepodge.
1. What area of your life feels like you’re stuck in a Groundhog’s Day loop, doing the same thing over and over? Does it bother you or is that just how life is in this particular season? I feel like I am always driving to and from the pool, packing lunches, making dinner, and wiping down the counters. It doesn’t bother me one bit. I know this season of life isn’t going to last too long so I don’t mind it.
2. Something that makes your heart skip a beat? Smiles from my guys 😉
3. Do you wear your heart on your sleeve or are you more of a closed book? Elaborate. I share all of my happy thoughts and feelings with everyone. I think I am more of a closed book, but I do wear my heart on my sleeve with my family and closest friends if I am upset. I tend to share my tough emotions and quickly get myself back together to continue on with the task at hand.
4. According to Prevention Magazine, these are 25 of the best foods for heart health-wild salmon, sardines, liver, walnuts, almonds, chia seeds, oatmeal, blueberries, coffee, red wine, green tea, soy milk, dark chocolate, raisins, broccoli, Brussels sprouts, cauliflower, sweet potatoes, whole grains, apples, oranges, grapefruit, avocado, avocado oil, olive oil. Which five do you include in your diet most often? Are there any foods on the list you simply cannot abide? I eat broccoli the very most on this list. We have it a few times a week. I absolutely cannot eat liver, Brussels sprouts, sweet potatoes, or grapefruit.
5. What was the last piece of furniture you bought? Is there a piece of furniture you need/want to purchase this year? I got a shelf for our family room. It is perfect and has turned into quite the plant stand. I think the next thing we will buy for the house is a new mattress. Ours is getting pretty old and my 44 year old body might appreciate a new one.

6. Insert your own random thought here. I am working on some goals for this month and year. There are some really easy goals for me to make – reading, exercise, time outside – but I am trying to figure out what I really want out of 2025 and how to make that happen. I did pick a phrase for this year. It is:

I am going to take care of myself by making healthy choices, thinking about what I really need, and choosing what will make me feel the best. I am also going to take care of my kids by helping them when they need it and pushing them to be independent when they need to be. I am going to take care of my relationships by making time for them and spending quality time with people I love. I usually set goals on the first Saturday in December for Declare It Day, but I haven’t done it yet. Don’t worry, I’m thinking about it.
What are you anticipating this month? Are you a liver or Brussels sprouts fan? Have you picked a word of the year or set some goals? There was a lot to think about in this post. Thanks for the prompts Jenn and Joyce! Have a great day full of sunshine and books!

I hope you manage to avoid all those germs! I’m having a hard time keeping up with my book list too as I keep adding more and more titles to my WTR pile. We were just talking about foods the other day and funny enough I used to enjoy liver as a kid… the I found out what the liver is and what it does and I never wanted to eat it ever again. There are actually quite a few healthy foods on that list I just can not bring myself to eat (or drink since I don’t drink wine or coffee either!).
oh my gosh- the new Swigs? Ahhhh…wish I hadn’t looked- ha!! The only food on that list I don’t like is liver 🙂
Not a fan of liver but I will eat it and I’m ok with Brussel sprouts. I love your “Take Care” plans.
Well done with the Peloton works outs. I love that photo of your dad and Jack, they look so happy!
Good luck with the book fair, it sounds like a great event.
I love the sound of your goals and your phrase for this year!
I can confirm there is a lot of sickness out there. I’ve got windows open wide and am washing everything any of the grands have touched. I think they’ve all had the flu, the last one to fall has it now, but so far hubs and I have missed it. I wonder if the flu shot helped this year, we both had one? I like ice hockey. I spent four years of high school homeroom sitting next to JP Shero whose dad was the coach for the Flyers. Lots of players lived in our town too. Have fun at the book fair!
I miss the bookfair!
So much sickness, some of the schools around us are closed due to illness. I find myself constantly washing my hands and over cleaning everything!
I am hoping desperately NOT to get sick. One quarter of our staff and students are sick and it is NOT GOOD. I Lysol wipe my phone about five times a day, even though I’m the only one who uses it!!!
Late to commenting but better late than never. I liked your answers. I like your goals…I’m working on making myself more of a priority health and fitness wise..I’ve kind of slid off the wagon and need to get back on it. Also, I love liver and like brussell sprouts 🙂
