Hello Monday – 1/27/25

Happy Monday! I’m starting the week with Holly and all of you! I hope you’ll link up with us for Hello Monday!

We had a great weekend and I am sharing eight great things with you!

1-The boys had their confirmation retreat on Friday evening and Saturday. It was a great way for them to spend the day focusing on their faith and ways to bring prayer into small moments. The retreat ended with mass and parents were invited to join them. There weren’t a ton of kids from our church at this retreat, so it was nice for the boys to have each other and do it together.

2-I finished Pump Up The Volume 1 on the Peloton app. It’s been a while since I’ve committed to lifting weights with any routine or program. This one was perfect because each workout was only 20 minutes and it has reminded me how much I love building strength. In week 4, I lifted double what I did in the first week and wasn’t nearly as sore as I was in week 1. It’s time to keep this momentum going!

3-One of Luke’s Christmas gifts was going to the Harry Potter Forbidden Forest experience. It was a little tricky to schedule because it started raining after Christmas and then got ridiculously cold! Luckily Saturday evening was going to be in the high 20s, so we bundled up and went. It was very cool! They had props from all the movies and were playing the audio from the movie for each scene. Luke and I loved it and Jeff had a great time with us. Jack wanted to stay home, so he did. Jack only read the first two books and didn’t watch the movies so he wasn’t pumped to freeze and walk around things he didn’t recognize.

4-Luke wanted a wand as a souvenier and got one like Harry Potter’s. He wanted a wand stand, too, but I drew the line there. I am so glad I did because he came home, found plans for the 3D printer, and made himself one.

5-I took Jack to my dad’s simulator on Sunday morning. He got new irons for Christmas and the weather hasn’t been very conducive to playing golf. He spent about an hour there and is hitting them pretty well. Golf season starts next month and he is getting excited!

6-I can finally see the back of my refrigerator! It feels like my fridge has been stacked full of tupperware containers with various leftovers. While I am thrilled to have the easy options, it was getting to be a bit much. We worked through a bit of them and it feels like a good start to the week!

7-Plant City strawberries are back! Have you heard of Plant City, Florida? Their strawberries are the absolute best! They are a sweet reminder of summer in the middle of January!

Another sign that we are heading towards the warmer, lighter days popped up on social media this week. Woohoo!

8-We got to Luke’s soccer game about 20 minutes early, so Jack did some driving. He has only driven Jeff’s car before and took a spin in the minivan on Sunday. He said he felt like it was huge, but did a great job! We practiced parking, turning, reversing, and he drove on the road a few times. Jack is excited to get as much time behind the wheel as he can and he’s doing well.

I did keep my “passenger brake” engaged the entire time, but mostly so he wouldn’t be distracted by reflexive braking. 😂

I am looking forward to a great week this week. I have a work from home day today and Luke is off. Jeff and Jack are headed to school so it will be pretty quiet around here. I have a bunch of posts ready to go this week, so be sure to check back. Don’t forget to link up with us below if you blogged today! Have a great day full of sunshine and books!

The braking! I think every parent can relate to that : ) We’re supposed to warm up some this week and I look forward to getting back out for some longer walks. Have a nice week and thanks for hosting.

That Harry Potter experience sounds so fun! My and my youngest 2 are big Harry Potter fans. I love the wand stand he made. It sounds like you all had a lovely weekend. I’m glad the driving is going well.

I am cracking up at your “brake” in the car- hysterical and so accurate! What a great weekend- haven’t heard of those strawberries but thanks for sharing. Here is to longer days and one day closer to spring!

Love it! Y’all look so coast with your mugs and what fun. Oh the braking! I Get it! I hope to see the Plant City strawberries soon. I love them but the stores strawberries have been horrible the past few weeks. Have a great week ahead.

The Harry Potter experience sounds incredible! I sent that graphic about the short days of winter to my daughter in Nashville. Because they are on the eastern edge of the central time zone, their sunset is around 4:30 in the winter! This is about an hour earlier than ours here in Texas. Hope you have a good week!
