Let’s Look – 1/15/25

Happy Wednesday! Can we just take a minute to ask the world to slow down? How are we halfway through January already? I am going to reframe this as we are closer to warm weather now, rather then mildly panicking that time is absolutely flying! This is one of my favorite linkups of the month because I am so curious about how other people do things. I try to find great systems for organizing, planning, and creating routines but I know there is always room for improvement.

January’s prompt is low level goals for 2025. It took me a little bit of time to think about this one because I am all goals all the time. I like to set realistic goals and I work to acheive them most of the time (I’m still working on that learn to french braid goal😉). I decided that these low level goals are going to be things that will make a difference in my day, but don’t require so much work from me. Here’s what I am thinking for the year:

1. I am going to take the meat out of the freezer the night before. I have had a quite a few mornings recently that I forgot to get dinner out to thaw and it makes for a tricky evening. I look over our calendar, including the meal plan, before I go up to bed, and that will be my reminder.

2. I am going to read or listen to one nonfiction book a month. In the past few years, I’ve read around 80 books in the past three years and I’d like to keep that up. I would like to stretch myself to read a bit more nonfiction this year. I already listened to one in January and it was good!

3. I am going to put lotion on my body most days. I haven’t really started this one yet, but I caught a glance of my legs this week and they look like alligator skin! Yikes! I need to get better at putting lotion on when I get out of the shower or before bed.

4. I am going to clean out my seasonal decorations as the year goes on. As I decorate for holidays and seasons, I am going to donate anything I don’t use. I have been collecting seasonal decorations for almost 20 years and my tastes and spaces have changed.

5. I had a 92 week streak going in my Peloton app and then somehow missed a whole week about 9 weeks ago. I now have an 8 week streak going and am going to keep it up for the whole year. At the end of the year I should have a 57 week streak if all goes according to plan. I can do absolutely any class on the Peloton app to keep the streak alive.

That was a nice way to ease into goals for the year. I usually host a Declare It Day event for my girlfriends at the beginning of February. I like that it allows me to try some things out in January and then set some serious goals for the year after that. I am not sure what this year will bring, but I have a few ideas about goals for 2025. I can’t wait to see everyone else’s answers. Have a great day full of sunshine and books!

These are some great goals. I’ve been trying to add in more non-fiction too and not just memoirs or healthy eating/exercise books either.

    Good luck with your goals!
I usually forget to take the meat out of the freezer when I need to and I have been working a bit more on my skincare, mostly my face but I have been using body lotion when I get out of the bath or shower too.

I am going to try and read 1 non-fiction a month this year also. I know how much you love the Olympics; have you read the Katie Ledecky book yet; I really enjoyed it? Also Sydney McLaughlin’s book was really good and thought provoking!
