What’s Up Wednesday – 9/25/24

Happy Wednesday! It’s the last Wednesday of the month so I am sharing what we’ve been up to. Let’s get to it!

Linking up with Sheaffer and Shay

WHAT WE’RE EATING THIS WEEK…

I am pretty good at meal planning dinners, but I am working to plan my breakfasts and lunches so that I am not running out to get food at lunch or making choices that aren’t as healthy as I would like.

WHAT I’M LOVING…

We have baby turtles in one of our courtyards at school.

I’ve had some time home alone. I love when my house is full of people, but there is also something so calming about being home alone for a little while.

We are carpooling for swim team one day a week and I love hearing the kids talk in the car.

I am loving our school library. The kids are loving the new books, which is always fun. I am doing things a little differently this year, while still following the curriculum, and I love how it is going.

I am loving that I’ve had some long walks with friends lately. It’s a good way to catch up and get some exercise at the same time. When the boys were younger and playing all their team sports in our town, I loved that it was another opportunity for me to see my friends regularly without going out. I miss that and am working on seeing more friends for walks, errands, etc.

Our incredible neighbor pruned our giant oak tree and it made a huge difference. I love how much more light is getting through. The tree looks so much healthier now, too. The tree is away from the street so went the Amazon and UPS trucks deliver goodies, they aren’t in danger of getting scraped.

WHAT WE’VE BEEN UP TO…

We had two all-dayers to end the pool season.

We went back to school.

We had fun at the pool crab feast.

Luke’s been playing soccer and volunteering at a soccer program.

Jack’s been practicing and playing golf, but I don’t have any recent pictures.

We celebrated my dad’s birthday and my birthday.

Jeff and I had a work event date night.

We soaked up the last bit of summer.

WHAT I’M DREADING…

I am trying not to dread things or think about things in a negative way, but I am not looking forward to the colder weather that I know is coming. I am trying to reframe it to think of the cozy time we can have inside together as a family. It’s not quite working yet, but I will keep trying!

WHAT I’M WORKING ON…

I am making appointments. We finally have the sports, school, and meeting schedules for the fall/year so I can make those doctor’s and other appointments.

I am starting to compile my Christmas books list for 2024. They new holiday books are starting to come out and I’m doing my best to pick some good ones!

A new to me strength training program on the Peloton app.

I am still working on purging different areas in our house. Up this month, I’d like to go through the upstairs desk, a few bins in the garagesome bins in our storage area of the basement, the toys in the basement that no one plays with anymore, my bathroom cabinets, and

WHAT I’M EXCITED ABOUT…

We are going to Atlanta and Lake Lanier to celebrate Annie, Zach, and Maggie next month. I am excited to celebrate them and have fun with family and friends! We went to the lake in December 2020 and it was beautiful. I can’t wait to see it in the fall.

My Lilly sunshine sale items are coming in and seeing these packages on my porch make me excited!

I love this necklace! It says “It’s always sunny somewhere” which feels so me!

WHAT I’M WATCHING/READING

I don’t usually watch a lot of tv but I have been watching some lately. I finished The Morning Show and I started watching The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives. It feels like a real housewives show and I’m enjoying it.

I haven’t read a ton this month because I keep falling asleep when I get to bed. Between back to school activities and the kids’ practices, I have not gotten in bed until 10 pm more nights than I’d like. I read for a few minutes and then fall asleep. I hope October will be a month with more reading because the back to school activities and meetings should be over. I shared my reading update yesterday. You can always see everything I’ve been reading on my Books 2024 page.

WHAT I’M LISTENING TO…

Luke and I are almost always listening to a book together because we spend a good bit of time in the car together. Our next book will be Spy School at Sea. I started listening to an audiobook on my own last week. I am enjoying hearing John Stamos tell his story!

I keep listening to my favorite podcasts – The Lazy Genius, I’ve Had It, The Girl Next Door, Wiser Than Me, The Mom Hour, Best Laid Plans, and Best of Both Worlds.

WHAT I’M WEARING…

I have been wearing as many real clothes as I can! I feel a little panicky to wear as many warm weather work clothes before the weather gets too chilly.

I’ve been wearing a lot of skorts (new favorite Amazon skort, Lilly tiered skort, Lilly pleated skort, Lilly straighter skort)

I’m also wearing some dresses and rompers. (first day of school dress, tennis dresses, long dresses, Amazon romper, old Lilly rompers)

In the chillier evenings, I’ve been wearing joggers again. (Amazon, Old Navy) I wore these pants on Monday when the fall weather came in strong and I am wearing them again today.

Here is the back of my shirt.

Please, please, pretty please!!

I wore my lemon dress last weekend for one more summer blast.

This cute top! I got the short sleeve and long sleeve version.

I wore my jean jacket for the last time. I have tried a few different jean jackets and I figured out that jean jackets are not for me. I am truly a cardigan girl. I love the idea of a jean jacket and think it looks great on other people. I think my shoulders are a little too broad so a jacket that fits my shoulders is a bit boxy and a jacket that fits the way I like is tight across my shoulders.

WHAT I’M DOING THIS WEEKEND…

We have a regular fall weekend coming up. Friday night football game, Saturday soccer game, swim team practice, and probably some golf thrown in there.

I might decorate for fall and Halloween. I usually wait until October 1st, but a Tuesday isn’t the best day to decorate.

Last weekend got away from me and I am hoping to stick to my to do list this weekend. I love when I have a bit of the weekend to prepare for the coming week. This is one of my favorite reminders.

WHAT I’M LOOKING FORWARD TO NEXT MONTH…

There is a lot to look forward to next month!

We are celebrating Jeff’s birthday! We are celebrating my sister and her husband! We are celebrating my neice Maggie! We are cheering Jack on in a few golf tournaments! Jack and Luke have their first swim meet of the season and we are cheering them on! Luke has high school open house! It’s Halloween!

That is about it for the month. We are 4 and 5 weeks into school and figuring out our rhythms and routines. I hope you had a great September, too! I’ll be back tomorrow for Monthly Musings. Have a great day full of sunshine and books!

I love all your outfits! I can relate to the fridge grab for a meal. That is most of my meals it seems :). I am sure the lake in the fall will be beautiful with the fall leaves. I hope with the cooler temperatures, you will also get plenty of sunshine!

I plan our evening meals but I am not organised enough to plan the other meals. Go you!!
The baby turtles are so cute, I hope the return to school has gone well.
I am not looking forward to the cold weather either, although it does mean cosying up in the house and Christmas is coming. hehehe

I love that more summer shirt! My sentiments exactly. I was not ready to pull out all my fall clothes and gear this weekend but it was time…
