Happy Monday! I’m here with Holly sharing some fun from our weekend. I hope you’ll link up with us for Hello Monday! I am also joining the Share Our Life ladies today.

I was planning to share my favorites from the first week of school on Friday, but I didn’t get home until 9:30 Thursday night and I needed to go to bed. I was a little more coherant and a little less tired last week than the one before but it still was not pretty.
I had a great Friday at school. I taught eight classes of kids that were so excited to get into the library and checkout books. After school, Luke headed outside to play and I vegged for a bit. We had a few errands to run and we needed to pick up dinner. Jack went home with a friend after school before the football game and Jeff stayed at work to get some things done and enjoy some peace and quiet.
Luke had Shooting Stars Friday evening. It’s a soccer program for any athlete with any disability and they pair the athletes with peer mentors. It is the best program and a great way to spend my Friday night.

On Saturday morning, I didn’t wake up until 8:43 am! It felt like I slept half the day and I was so rested. I dashed down to Trader Joe’s to pick up some staples and headed home to get some things done. It was chilly and drizzly, perfect weather to get things done. I checked off quite a few things on my list around the house.
We had our annual crab feast at the pool Saturday night. We usually swim, but there was definitely no swimming this year. It was sweatshirt and jeans weather.

We were up bright and early for Luke’s soccer game. They ended in a tie and he played well. Jeff and I were twinning as we cheered on the team.

Jack had a golf tournament yesterday afternoon. It was gorgeous weather for a golf tournament! Jeff went to caddy for him, but Luke and I stayed home.
I started reading The Many Lives of Mama Love on Saturday afternoon. It came highly recommended from a group of friends in a local book club. I was a little unsure about it and I am glad I read it. It was very well written, but it was intense. I woke up around 3 am on Saturday night/Sunday morning and can usually read myself back to sleep. This is not a read yourself by to sleep book. I was up reading for almost two hours. I decided I wanted to finish it on Sunday and sat on the deck reading until I did. The hold that drugs can have over people is terrifying. While I am so proud of Lara and how committed she is to sobriety, her family, and herself, it was really hard to watch her make bad choices on her path to where she is now.

I made a new to us recipe for dinner that I’ll share later this week and it was so good! After dinner I filled out the fridge calendar with the week’s dinners and activities before heading to bed to paint my nails with my new polish color. It’s an old favorite that I haven’t had in a while.

The prompt for this month is how do you find peace in your day. It feels pretty timely since we are back to school and things are pretty busy. I am relying on those little times to find peace and keep on going.
During the summer, every time I sit in front of water I find peace. It calms me in a way nothing else really does.

During the school year, I get outside to find a little peace. Feeling the sunshine on my cheeks and taking a few deep breaths really helps. As I type this I am remembering how good it feels to walk back from our lunch room to the media center outside. I can take the short way or the long way depending on my schedule. I try to get outside after school every day. Fresh air is a good way to find peace.

My goal is always to start my day with exercise. That gives me some peace no matter what I do. Lifting weights, doing cardio, and practicing yoga all help start my day with peace.

Going for a walk no matter what the weather or time of day helps me find peace.

I find that reading beach read type books gives me peace too. I can escape anything worrisome or stressful going on.

Be sure to check out the Adrienne, Dara, Jen, Joanne, and Sarah‘s posts this week to find our how to add more peace to your day.
I have high hopes for this week being the week that I am not bone tired by the end of the week. I think we are settling into our routines and our bodies are figuring the schedule out. Don’t forget to link up with us below! Have a great day full of sunshine and books!

It was so cold here, too! Sorry you couldn’t swim, though!
Looks like a great weekend.
There’s nothing more peaceful than a beach sunset.
Hopefully you’re over the “back to school tired hump” soon.
Time outside always brings me peace too! Your crab fest sounds like a blast 🙂
I agree on the expanse of the ocean is such a peaceful sight. Enjoy your day!
Getting back into the work routune after a hiatus can be hard, but it also can bring peace to the day/week. Being outside in nature is always uplifting and also listening to music calms me. Have a wonderful week!
Yum…a crab feast sounds wonderful! Hope you have a really good week.
I love that you find peace in starting your day with a workout. I do too (after some bible reading and a preworkout). if I dont get a workout in I just feel off all day.
No wonder you slept so well after a busy week! I like rainy days to get things done around the house. What a great weekend!
How lovely to sit in front of the water, I imagine it so calming.
I find outdoor time helps me find peace too! That shooting stars program sounds just wonderful.
I love being by the water too. Anytime I get to be by water, I feel peaceful. And we’re just finishing our first full week of school so I’m still waiting for the total exhaustion to be done!
The first week of school is a special kind of exhaustion! I hope you got some rest this weekend!
