Hello Monday – 8/5/24

Happy Monday! I’m here with Holly and I hope you’ll link up with us for Hello Monday! I’m sharing some fun from our weekend and some of my recent Amazon purchases today.

We had another great summer weekend and I did not take many pictures at all! Oops! Jack guarded Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. I love it because it’s a perfect excuse to spend more time at the pool. I know, I know, I don’t need a reason to spend more time at the pool, but I still love it.

On Friday, Jeff, Luke, and I hit the track for a run (Luke) and run/walk (Jeff and me). Then we spent the day at the pool. On Friday evening, Jeff and Jack tried to play golf but they got absolutely drenched on the 4th hole. Luke and I headed to Target to get school supplies. We tucked the school supplies out of sight in the guest room closet when we got home, so they can’t ruin our summer vibes.

On Saturday, we were back at the pool until a storm came through. Jeff had to work on Saturday evening, but the boys and I got showered and in pjs right after dinner. We had a pretty chill night playing video games (them), watching tv (us), and reading (me).

On Sunday, I did a 5K for that my cousin’s daughter organized. It was a trail run, but I walked it since I haven’t been running and it was trails. We spent some time at the pool while Jack was working.

Luke and Jeff went to see 311 last night. Jeff LOVES 311 and has probably seen them 25 times or more. Luke really likes them, too, so they went together. It was a really fun night for them.

I watched so much Olympic coverage. I’m sad that swimming is over, but what a way to end. Two world records for the Americans and they beat the Aussies in the swimming gold medal count! I am excited for track and field to ramp up. I’m looking forward to artistic swimming, more diving, and all of the rest! There were some great moments of sportsmanship, and exciting finishes this weekend. I just love everything there is to love about the Olympics!!

I ordered this glad during Olympic trials and it just got here.

With Prime Days last month and some random purchases, I have quite a few things to share that I’ve ordered lately.

Jen shared these eye patches and I picked them up on Prime Day. I have been looking at disposable eye patches, but didn’t know what to pick. I really like these. They suggest removing the excess serum before applying and I have been rubbing that into the skin on my neck to help with crepey skin there. They feel great!

I love packing cubes, but I find that we often need a few more of the medium size. We’ve had our packing cubes for five years and they are in great shape. These Amazon Basics brand are also great! Green was cheapest so that’s the color I ordered.

I’ve shared this skort a few times, but it’s worth sharing again! I am checking every day to see if any other colors go on sale because it is so comfy. It has a little bit of rubber on the bottom of the shorts part so they don’t ride up and the little pleats in the back are so fun and flattering!

As a librarian, it is practially mandatory that I love cardigans. I have been looking at these lady jacket cardigans for a while and finally hit add to cart on this one. It is great quality and I love the look! It looks like it is still on sale and is 50% off right now.

I was doing a little grocery comparison shopping and found that these granola bars are cheaper at Amazon than Walmart or my local grocery store. I signed up for subscribe and save and they are even cheaper. They are my kids’ favorite so it is nice to not worry about getting them at the store.

I was tired the velcro on my charging cables catching my clothes or the cables being a mess in my purse pouch. I found these and I love them! I’m using them in my purse pouch, my car, and in our cord storage at home. They keep everything a bit neater. I also picked up this variety pack and this set of longer charging cords. I am not sure what happens to the cords in our house, but they are always missing.

We’ve been drinking a lot of water this month since it has been so hot and humid. I picked up a multipack of Nuun tablets to add to our water to stay hydrated on the days that we’re running, playing golf, or just outside sweating it out.

Two of our sweet neighbors had surgery earlier this month. It was a routine surgery – tubes and adnoids – but I wasn’t sure what the recovery day would be like. I ordered a few of these activity books for them as a treat. My guys loved them when they were little and our neighbors did too.

These are Jack’s and Luke’s favorite goggles and we found ourselves in need of a few pairs this summer.

Our flagpole has seen better days. I was trying to hang my Team USA and decided that was enough. I ordered this one and it is great! I decided to go with black because it would match our shutters and not show any dirt, pollen, etc.

Our kids have buddies on the swim team and they give each other little goodie bags at each meet. At the end of the season, we give a bigger gift. Jack’s buddy loves dogs and I thought this blanket would be fun. It is the perfect size for a 9 year old to snuggle under on the couch or in the car.

Luke loves these cubes and wanted to get one for his buddy. I have no idea why the words are in German (I think). Both gifts were a hit!

My kindle case was falling apart and I had a hard time finding a new one. My Kindle is from 2018 and is a different size than the Kindles they sell now. After searching, buying, returning, and buying again, I found one I like that fits. I like a case with an easel stand so I can prop it up and keep reading while I lay on my stomach in the sunshine.

Did you know about Amazon First Reads? As Prime members, you can get a free Kindle book each month before it is released. I am so excited about the selections this month! Elin has a short story for us!! It is released on September 1st, but if you pick it as your First Read, you can get it now!

We have a pretty low key week. I have a few appointments and lots of Olympics to watch. I am hoping to spend some time at the pool and the track. I should spend some time in our yard weeding the garden, but we’ll see. I would also like to clean out some catch all spots in our house, but with the Olympics on and the sun shining I am not sure how well that will go. Don’t forget to link up with Holly and me below for Hello Monday! Have a great day full of sunshine and books!

I love that you tucked the school supplies away! Yes, do not ruin your vibes! You know what is ruining mine? Today! I am starting back today! EEk! It’s August 5th! Ha!

Sounds like a great weekend. I loved watching the swimming yesterday. I’m sad it’s over. Track has been fun so far & I’m loving volleyball. Those silicone ties sound like something I need. I do love those eye patches and do the same thing with the excess. I feel like they are less drippy initially after the first few. That’s so sweet of you to get your neighbors and swim buddies those sweet gifts. Have a great summer week! I’m back to reality.

We have also been immersed in the Olyimpics. Cute cardigan, and I love the dog themed blanket! Elin’s novels are always so engaging, so I’m sure her short story will also be a winner.

We’ve been enjoying the Olympics too and feel like we’ll need a detox from the tv when it’s over. I love the First Reads and have found a few good books that way. I picked the family mystery this month. It sounded good. Have a nice week! Go USA!

Heading over to check out those packing cubes right now! I’m hoping to convince my boys to use them and then mix and match all the cubes throughout the 2 pieces of luggage I bought. I honestly thought I had picked that short story as my kindle first read until I went to start it Sunday morning and found that it wasn’t the story I selected! LOL

Packing cubes have been a game changer for my kids. It helps them stay organized when we are traveling. Bummer about Elin’s book, but it’s pretty inexpensive to purchase as a prime member.
