Reading Lately – 5/28/24

Happy Tuesday! Holly and I are hosting Hello Monday today so I hope you’ll link up with us below. I am also linking up with Joanne for Talking About It Tuesdays to show you the books I read this month.

I started this month reading the Black-Eyed Susan nominated graphic novels and novels for work.

I finished all ten graphic novels by reading:
Meesh and the Bad Demon by Michelle Lam
Prunella and the Cursed Skull Ring by Matthew Loux
Squire and Knight by Scott Chantler

I read five of the ten novels this month, too. I read:
Dogtown by Katherine Applegate
Finally Seen by Kelly Yang
Home Away From Home by Cynthia Lord
Montgomery and the Case of the Golden Key by Tracy Occomy Crowder
The Way I Say It by Nancy Tandon

Every Time I Go on Vacation Someone Dies by Catherine Mack ☀️☀️☀️☀️

I thought this book was good. It was a mystery and a little suspensful, but didn’t keep me up at night worrying. The setting was gorgeous and the characters were fun.

The Most Fun We Ever Had by Claire Lombardo ☀️☀️☀️☀️

This is a good family story and I thought it would be perfect for me. It is goes back and forth in time telling the story of four daughters and their parents. We see the daughters as children, teenagers, and adults. I enjoyed seeing into the family, but I think I would have loved it even more if I read it in October or February. May was a busy month with late bedtimes but this book took me 23 days to read and that is way longer than I usually spend on a book. That tells me I wasn’t super excited to read it.

Spy School Goes South by Stuart Gibbs (audio)

Luke and I both loved this installment of the Spy School series. Ben and his friends took us to Mexico and it was another great story!

Currently Reading: The Rule Book by Sarah Adams

Currently listening: Hoot by Carl Hiasson

May wasn’t my best reading month for adult books, but I am so excited for June! I am starting on my Summer Beach Reads before school is out because I just couldn’t wait. Also, my hold at the library came up so I wasn’t going to pass this book up.

You can always checkout what I’ve been reading on my Books 2024 page. I have all of my yearly reading pages linked here if you want to see what I’ve been reading for the last 5 years. Have a great day full of sunshine and books!

I am going to share what we’ve been up to tomorrow, so be sure to come back. I hope you’ll link up with Holly and me below. Have a great day full of sunshine and books!

I didn’t love The Most Fun We Ever Had either– I enjoyed it but it definitely wasn’t a book I felt compelled to read. I just kept wondering where the “fun” came in. I’ve already started my summer reading too since a few of my holds just came in at the library.

It’s always valuable to share the books you didn’t love too. I won’t waste my time on The Most Fun We Ever Had. But Every Time I Go On Vacation Someone Dies sounds interesting. What a catchy title!

You’ve been busy! Ha! I love the title: Every Time I Go On Vacation Someone Dies. I’m not familiar with this author, but the title alone makes me want to read it.

I don’t read a lot of true ‘beach reads’ but enjoy one now and then. I had The Most Fun on my to. read list but see reviews are mixed so might not get to it. When a book is over hyped I often find myself disapppointed. Have a nice week!

I’ve somehow made it this many years working in schools without reading Hoot 🙂 Maybe my son would like it though, so I’ll check it out!
