Happy Wednesday! It’s the last Wednesday of the month so I am sharing what we’ve been up to. Let’s get to it!
WHAT WE’RE EATING THIS WEEK…

WHAT I’M LOVING…
Jack got his lifeguard certification last month. He guarded for Luke’s soccer party last weekend. It was fun to watch him guard for the first time. Especially because Jeff and I met in lifeguarding class. He had his first shift at our pool yesterday afternoon.

Jeff and I got to go for an after dinner walk. It has been a long time since we’ve had one of those, but I am excited for those to start back up again.
We had a terrible rain storm on Monday evening, but were treated to a rainbow after it ended.

We celebrated Mother’s Day with crabs and tacos!

Trader Joe’s peonies are back!

I loved this nail polish from Expressie. Sadly, the name feels like the truth!

I got to spend some time with my niece Maggie. We saw Annie and Zach too but I didn’t take a picture with them.

WHAT WE’VE BEEN UP TO…
I’m still doing the three chs – chef, chauffer, cheerleader!
Luke played in a soccer tournament over Memorial Day weekend. They made it to the finals, but did not win the championship game. It was fun to watch him play and he had a great tournament!

Jack has been playing a bunch of golf after school and on the weekends.
Jack got contacts and is doing really well with them! He’s gotten really good at putting them in and taking them out.

Luke’s lacrosse team finished their regular season this month and they were undefeated. They made it to the championship, but came up short. It was fun to watch him play and he has one more tournament next month.

All four of us were home on Monday night and we played What Do You Meme family edition. It was so fun!
Luke had his band concert last night and four of the fifteen 7th grade percussionists were asked to stay and play at the orchestra concert. He did a great job and had so much fun. They played Shut Up and Dance With Me with orchestra and Luke got the cowbell. MORE COWBELL!! He always has the best time playing percussion and we have the best time watching him!

WHAT I’M DREADING…
Even though it will only go off 10 more times (9 student days and 1 teacher work day), I am dreading my early morning alarm.
WHAT I’M WORKING ON…
I am working on finishing out the school year. The next 9 days are going to be pretty full. Media book checkout is over, so I’m working hard to get all the books returned. I am putting together the orders for next year and cleaning up the library in a way that will hopefully be extra helpful when we go back to school.
I am working on making my summer to do list. I have some tasks floating around in my head that I’d like to get done this summer.
Our backyard swing rusted and broke. I am looking for a replacement right now. I’m between this one and this one. I might get the same one we had before because the kids loved it!
WHAT I’M EXCITED ABOUT…
The pool is open! I have perfect attendance so far. I sat in my favorite chair and read for a bit on Sunday. It felt so good!

WHAT I’M WATCHING/READING…
I haven’t watched much and I shared what I’ve been reading yesterday. I’m reading my first book from my Summer Beach Reads 2024 list and cruising through it.
WHAT I’M LISTENING TO…
I’ve been listening to some podcasts

and Radio Margaritaville. I always love Jimmy Buffet’s music but especially when the sun is shining!

WHAT I’M WEARING…
Lots of athletic dresses from Old Navy and skorts.

I wore a long dress that I’ve had for a while yesterday. You know my rule, wear it, love it, or it is out of the closet.

And this long dress last week.

My bracelet game has been pretty strong lately! I have been mixing up some Gray Co. stacks. I love this new one with white and gold!

I’ve also been mixing some old favorite Stella & Dot bracelets in.

WHAT I’M DOING THIS WEEKEND…
If the weather cooperates, I am going to spend a lot of time at the pool!
WHAT I’M LOOKING FORWARD TO NEXT MONTH…
All things summer! School ends! We are going on our first vacation of the summer! Long pool days! Seeing my sister twice!
That wraps up our month. May was busy and we were on the move a lot. It was a month of making dinner at 4 pm, packing it up, Luke and I eating on our way to a practice, and Jeff and Jack reheating it when they got home. I am looking forward to eating more dinners together, grilling, and eating outside. June usually brings more reading time, some sleeping in, relaxing, and a slightly slower routine. I’m ready for it! I hope you had a great May and are ready to welcome June! Have a great day full of sunshine and books.

Thank you for reading Sunshine & Books.

Loving all these pool pictures! Congrats to your son on getting his lifeguard certification; I always thought that would be a fairly fun job for summer (but we don’t have any around here). That rainbow is really spectacular.
Love the bracelets and I need to up my game! I loved being a lifeguard! Thanks for the new podcast recs. I can use some. I will check those out.
So cool that Jack is a lifeguard. Such a great teen job. The three “ch” I love that and can relate. I need to find that Walmart striped dress in my closet. It’s such a good one. I hope you have lots of pool and reading time soon.
The Three Ch’s??? Love it-hysterical and so on point! So excited for you and your pool time!
Congrats to Jack on his lifeguard cert! And congrats to Luke on going undefeated even if they came up short in the championship!
Yay for Jack getting his lifeguard cert. The rainbow is beautiful. Love the name of the nail polish
