Four Somethings – 8/30/23

Happy Wednesday! It’s the last Wednesday of the month and I usually do a What’s Up Wednesday post. The week has been so busy that I decided to write a shorter post to give an update and recap of our month. Jennifer does the Four Somethings linkup on the last Saturday of the month, but I’ve never participated. Here we go!

Something I Loved…

I loved a lot in August! I soaked up the sunshine at the beach and the pool.

I spent time with my sister, my niece, and my brother-in-law, my parents, Jeff, and my kids all together at the beach.

I loved how excited Jack was when he came home from freshmen orientation and freshmen retreat at school. He’s meeting new kids and having fun. His official first day of school is today. I’m sure he’ll love it!

Camp Gigi Pop is back again and I love that! This year Luke has four days of just him with my parents. Jack joined them yesterday.

Within the last year I stumbled across Morgan Harper Nichols’ Instagram accounts. I love the images and messages she creates. Here are a few that have spoken to me lately.

Something I learned…

I learned some of the rules for water polo. Jack made the JV water polo team at school and is having a blast. I am learning the rules, the lingo, everything about it.

Something I read…

I didn’t read as much as I’d hoped this month. Luke and I finished Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. We immediately started Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. Soccer practice has started back up so we’ll be listening a lot more. I’m reading Romantic Comedy by Curtis Sittenfeld right now. I wasn’t sure what to expect, but I am enjoying it!

I haven’t read Gone Tonight by Sarah Pekkanan but I had a great time meeting her with my mom!

Something I ate…

We are eating a lot of local sweet corn, peaches, tomatoes, cucumbers.

I got canary melons in our CSA. We’ve never had them and they tasted like a sweeter version of a honeydew melon.

We are loving all the fresh fruits and veggies. I am also enjoying throwing a protein together with whatever fruits and veggies I have.

This week we are eating things that Luke doesn’t love. Before he left to go with my parents for Camp Gigi Pop, I asked him what his least favorite dinners are. He said hamburgers and chili. So we are eating that this week.

That was fun to share four somethings. I’ll be back tomorrow for Monthly Musings. I hope you’ll come back for that and my favorites on Friday. Have a great day full of sunshine and books!

I might have to try that book- love the book she writes with Greer Hendricks but never read one of her solo novels! So fun that you got to meet her. Best of luck to the boys and yous for this school year!

We’re eating lots of fresh produce too and I also make sure to make each kid’s least favorite meal on the night(s) they aren’t going to be home. It looks like you had a really wonderful month of fun and sun.
