Friday Favorites – 1/20/23

Happy Friday! I am so ready for Friday this week! We were off on Monday for Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day and it’s so funny how short weeks can seem the longest. I have some fun favorites to share with you today.

Linking up with Erika and Andrea

Favorite 1: BOOKS!! I finished my book this week and it was really cute. I read The Key to My Heart by Lia Louis and it was a great winter book. I enjoyed Lia’s style of writing and the characters. Natalie is a very young widow still working through her grief and she meets Tom and Joe. Joe lost his brother and is grieving him. Tom seems to be pretty happy go lucky and wants to help Natalie. Natalie’s friendships with the two men twist and turn through the story and I was so pleased with how it ended.

I just started Finlay Donovan is Killing It by Elle Cosimano. It is my book club book for next week and I am excited to read it. I actually reached out to Elle to see if she wanted to join us because I thought she was local. Turns out she isn’t anymore but she was so lovely and it made me even more excited to read her book!

Favorite 2: HEADACHE REMEDY! I gave this to Jeff for Christmas. I read that it was great for migraines and other headaches. He tends to get them more in the winter and especially when there is a weather system coming through. It massages, vibrates, and plays music. Jeff said it really works. Luke is pretty congested and wanted to try it one morning this week. He said it felt great on his face!

Favorite 3: OUTSIDE!! I was listening to a podcast recently and they were talking about trying to get 23 minutes outside every day in 2023. I think it was the Happier podcast with Gretchen Rubin but I’m not positive. I decided that I might benefit from that and am giving it a try. I haven’t been 100% successful, but I have been consciously getting more time outside.

Favorite 4: EXERCISE & REST!! I am making both of these a favorite this week. I have been struggling to meet my January goal this week to exercise before school. I’m trying to give myself some grace and take the rest that my body is asking for. I am also finding ways to get the exercise in after school. I ran on Tuesday afternoon because the weather was gorgeous! I made time to hit my basement gym in the evening to get it done. I set my alarm 30 minutes later this morning and I am confident I will get my movement in this afternoon.

Favorite 5: SNOW!! Even though we haven’t gotten any snow here, I was so excited to see some snow last weekend. The company on that snowy weekend was pretty great, too! We are having cold rain this week, but not quite cold enough to snow and I do not love it! I have two thoughts on this:
1-It should be cold, Christmasy weather or summer
2-All winter precipitation should be snow.
I do not appreciate a gray, winter day. I just don’t! I do appreciate a snowy, winter day. They are lovely!

Favorite 6: VALENTINE’S DAY! I pulled my Valentine’s Day themed clothes and jewelry out last night. I added a cute pair of pjs this year and I can’t wait to wear them! I’ll probably start next week.

I will be poolside and courtside again this weekend. I don’t think I’ll get as much done because our team is hosting the meet and I am volunteering. I do need to read my book and hopefully work ahead on some of my posts for next week. Have a great day full of sunshine and books!

I’m adding this books to my list. I agree with you about the weather. I do love a couple months of winter but if it’s going to be cold, I prefer some snow. We haven’t really had any yet. February tends to be our snowier month, I guess. Fingers crossed!
