Happy Monday! I’m here with Holly sharing some fun from our weekend. I hope you’ll link up with us for Hello Monday!
We had a great Friday at school! We welcomed Dan Gemeinhart. He is on tour for his newest book, The Midnight Children, and we were so lucky to have him. The Midnight Children is such a great book! I stayed up way later than I should have on Thursday night just to finish it before meeting Dan.
Dan Gemeinhart was an elementary school teacher and librarian before he became a full time author, and you can tell. His presentation was so engaging and his message was perfect for our students!
The boys went to swim practice and I got some good one on one time with each one. It was early to bed for us after our first five day week.
I woke up Saturday and hit the ground running. My to do list was long and I was determined to complete it. I made three trips to Home Depot. I wanted to clean out one bin in my garage and it was like “If you give a mouse a cookie…” I ended up cleaning out half of our garage filling the trash can and a big bag of donations. I did not sit down until the sun was setting. When I did sit down, I enjoyed a Truly punch and a magazine. Remember, September is still summer so we should still be enjoying summer things!
On Sunday, I took Luke to his soccer game and we ran some errands on our way home. Jeff and Jack were at Jack’s golf tournament when we got home. I got right back to my list and ended up checking off every single thing!
Luke and I needed to go check on the pool after all the rain we had earlier this week. We decided to take a quick little last dip while we were there.
We have a regular five day week ahead of us. I am looking forward to settling into our routine. I hope you had a great weekend and have a great day full of sunshine and books!
You are invited to the Inlinkz link party!

Dan is easy on the eyes, too, if you know what I mean. Ha! We have a five day week, too. I don’t hate it, because we kinda need it for the routine!
Yes indeed! And routine will be good.
I felt weird making that comment, but then saw that others did, too!
No need to feel weird – he’s a grown up.
I felt weird after I made that comment but then was happy that others did, too!
Another awesome author visit and doesn’t hurt that he is so handsome- ha! 🙂
A magazine! That’s not something you see often!!!
I love reading magazines but I’ve learned to stop subscribing because I never make time to read them.
Oh I just LOVED Dan’s Remarkable Journey of Coyote Sunrise! I’m going to have to try another one of his books soon.
It was so good!!
So fun to have an author come. You are such a great librarian:)
I have a wonderful relationship with a fabulous independent bookstore who sends a bunch of authors our way. And our school is on high school hours (745-215) so we can usually fit in the author’s schedule for the day. It’s wonderful!!
So fun for your students!
Hi! I enjoyed your sharing! Much success to the author and to you and your students, I think this determination to accomplish what you have to do is great! Hugs, Raquel
