First Day of School – 9/7/22

Happy Wednesday! I am just popping on here today to share our first day of school pictures. It was our first rainy first day of school, but we still managed to take our front porch pictures. And more importantly all six grades got out to recess at school today when the rain stopped midday. Hallelujah!! Inside recess on the first day of school would’ve been miserable for everyone!

Both boys are in middle school this year! Jack is in 8th grade and Luke is in 6th grade.

I love the brothers picture each year! They are always a little silly but I manage to capture great smiles from everyone!

I was excited that Jeff was home for our family selfie this year. Some years our first day of school is also his first day of school and he needs to leave pretty early.

The three people who have been out of school all summer aren’t smiling, but that guy in the back who works all summer is happy as can be. Ha!

This is the first year in 13 years that I will drive myself, all by myself, to and from school. For the past 13 years, I have dropped kids off at daycare near my school or driven the kids to school. This year, they’re riding the bus to and from school. It definitely felt weird this afternoon to pick up my stuff and leave school. I didn’t have to tell anyone it was time to go, remind anyone to grab anything, or worry about anyone buy myself.

Something else fun happened today! When I sent our first day of school pictures to my parents and sister, Annie texted back that we’d done it again! We wore the same thing without talking about it. I love when our brain does that!!

I managed to snap a picture of Jack and Luke coming home from the bus stop. They both came home smiling after a great day!

I didn’t take any pictures of the evening, but it turned out to be a good one. Jack had early swim practice so Jeff and I sat with Luke while he ate dinner and talked about his day. Then, Luke went to swim practice and we sat with Jack to talk about his day. It was really nice to have some one on one time with each kid to hear all about their day.

We all headed to bed a little early so we’ll be ready to do it all again today. I hope everyone who is involved with a school in any way – students, staff, parents, volunteers – has the best year this year! Have a great day full of sunshine and books!
