Hello Monday – 7/25/22

Happy Monday! I’m here with Holly sharing some fun from our weekend. I hope you’ll link up with us for Hello Monday!

I cannot believe this is the last Monday in July! I feel like the 4th of July was a long time ago, but I don’t want July to be over yet! Last week was supposed to be low key, but it turned into a lot of running around. The kids had 8 appointments – dentist, pediatrician, orthodontist, and haircuts. I wore real clothes most days which is something I try to avoid in the summertime!

Speaking of real clothes, I have the cutest shorts to share with you! They are from Walmart and so comfy. They are cotton, not quite terry cloth but soft, and I love them. I wasn’t sure about sizing so I ordered a small, medium, and large. I think they are cut quite generously and the small fits me best. I’ve returned a bunch but still have the yellow, orange/pink stripe, blue/white stripe, and green/white stripe. I need to pick one to return, either blue or green stripes. I think the orange/pink stripes will end up as pajama shorts, but I wore the yellows running errands on Sunday. I also bought the tops, but they were way too short in the torso and didn’t fit me right at all.

On Friday, the boys went to swim team practice and then we came home to get ready for Jeff’s mom’s birthday!

Jeff’s mom always makes the family birthday cakes. I did my best, but rest assured Karen you are still our official cake maker!
Dolly’s icing is delicious!
Luke told me that it looked pretty good, but the icing could be a little smoother. 😉

We were going to Jeff’s brother’s pool and the weather was perfect! It’s been really hot, but you know I love that! After haircuts, we headed to party!

We bought some crabs and steamed some fresh crabs, too. They were delicious!
The whole gang ❤️
Isn’t this so gorgeous with the sun setting over the river?

I grabbed a birthday banner from our collection. I thought I grabbed a generic banner, but instead grabbed this one. Oops!

Happy “40th” birthday! 🥳

On Saturday morning, I was up EARLY! I headed to the pool at 5:25 to get ready for the meet. Jeff and I usually take charge of swim meet setup on Friday night, but we weren’t there this week. I wanted to get there to make sure everything was ready. A few others joined me and we got everything ready. I headed home for a quick shower and to grab Jeff and the boys. It was our last dual meet of the season and so much fun! My mom and dad came to cheer on the boys and stayed the whole time! It was so hot and they were troopers!

We finally got a family picture at a swim meet! And we even tried a new pose.
Head timer extraordinaire! He can do it all!
Go Jack!
Go Luke!
Adding another one to the count of swim meets I’ve spent with my parents!

I decided we were going wire to wire on Saturday and we almost made it. The meet went until about 2 o’clock and we were camped out. A storm rolled in and chased us off around 8:00. Jack left with a friend a little earlier, but all told I was there for about 14 hours and the others over 12!

It was so lovely poolside!
One of Luke’s buddies had a mermaid tail and convinced him to give it a try.
Heading out after spending over half a day at the pool!

I finished The Beach Trap by Ali Brady last week and it was a fun summer read. It had similarities to The Parent Trap and has me planning a trip to Destin!

We decided that we might not make it to the pool on Sunday. It was gorgeous, but we needed to get ready for the week! I had some curriculum writing to finish up. Jeff had a grad school class to work on. The boys were happy for a chill day.

We are back on the road again today for a fun city trip. I can’t believe we still haven’t been to the beach this summer, but we are having fun and doing lots of new things!

I’m hoping to have a post every day this week, but I can’t make any promises! The last week of the month is full of some fun linkups – What’s Up Wednesday and Monthly Musings – that I don’t want to miss! Have a great day full of sunshine and books!

What a fun and full weekend! I can’t believe you haven’t made it to the beach yet this summer (I mean we haven’t either but I honestly can’t remember the last time we went to the beach). New experiences are wonderful though!!

Those shorts are cute! It’s funny because the description says they run small. I really appreciate when a blogger gives the real story on fit.
Dolly frosting! I love that. It looked good to me, but you may know that I love cake!
The party looks like so much fun.
    Say it isn’t so…July…don’t go!

I was so surprised to try on the shorts after reading those reviews. I am usually a medium so I ordered the medium and the large. Then I ended up ordering the smalls, too. I’m making a lot of Walmart returns this week!
Thanks! The cake was so yummy!

I wish I had a nice Walmart closer to me. They make returns more difficult than Target, in my opinion. I am very intrigued by the whole Free Assembly line!

What a wonderful weekend. I love all the family photos. The cake looks delish and the banner is too funny. The sunset is stunning! I wish I had known about the Beach Trap! The parent trap is my all time favorite movie. I just requested from the library…9 week wait list 😂 I hope you are having a great week
